It doesnt open all day, Sundays are more like the old traditional hours so be prepared for a change of plan when you get there. Lovely to sit outside in the summer and the inside is still a genuine pub. I had Wylam Gold Tankard which was spot on and a packet of out of date crisps (free) they were nice too. It's a lovely pub and more people should go. Comments about the bridge are true. It's built for Austin 7s. I mangled my alloys on my Jaaaaag. I now use Wylam Bridge instead. The road between Stocksfield and Bywell Bridge further up stream at Bywell is reopened (August 2013) so that's an option too.

I'm not sure I'd like to visit this pub too often, given how narrow the bridge across the river is. There's barely room to fit a car on. Nevertheless this is a friendly local in a pretty location overlooking the river. Beers on were Wylam Admiral Lord Collingwood Ale & Gold Tankard, Timothy Taylor Landlord, Tetleys Cask & Mobberley Barn Buster. The latter was advertised as £2 per pint. But £1.43 for a half wasn't quite as good value. The pub was fairly quiet on an early Saturday evening, unlike our next stop - the nearby Black Bull in Wylam, which was packed. The Black Bull is not listed on here.

I haven't been for 15 years and still pine for the day I'll go back... Happy memories ... Is it still owned by James Outterside?

A good local bar but not in the way LisaHas found it. Usually three real ales and the Cumberland Ale is the best kept I have had anywhere (and there have been a few!)A good place to take a crossword to on a Sunday lunchtime to recover from the night before.

My wife I had a wonderful time there, room was clean and tidy, staff were very friendly and the breakfast was to die for, loved it so much going back in August

Great Family Pub been in the family for over 30 years not like these other 'family' pubs that change manager every 6 months - Come See for yourself!

Not impressed at all. It felt as if you were not welcome here, unless you were a local, The staff were not interested in serving or helping. I would not reccomend this pub even to my worst enemy.
