Travellers Rest, Durhamback to pub details please note - reviews on this site are purely the opinion of site visitors, so don't take them too seriously.
I can categorically say I was not in the Woodman Inn, nor was I in the Age Bar and Kitchen (as it was closed), the Travellers is now a building society. Travel further up claypath into gilesgate and you'll see the remnants, it still has the old lamp as part of the fixtures of the building

Loy, if you were drinking Durham brewery beers, you were definitely in the Woodman, as it's the only pub on Claypath that has ever served them. This pub, currently still with its old Newcastle Breweries livery intact, became the Age Bar and kitchen, then Chapters Restaurant, which both ceased trading. It currently awaits conversion into...wait for it...yep, that's right, yet more flats. RIP

Are you sure you didn't go to the Woodman? I really don't think this pub exists and your description sounds like the Woodman, which is indeed an excellent pub!

It most certainly isn't the Age Bar and Kitchen! Went to Durham on a pub crawl, and found the Age conspicuously closed. Went in here instead and it was fantastic! A healthy range of well kept Durham ales and an extremely friendly lass behind the bar. Also has a pool table and dart board, both of which I experienced heavy losses on. I also bizzarely seem to remember a popcorn machine.

This is now the Age Bar and Kitchen.

Yeah, it was a nice pub. Last time I was in, it was awful. I'm sure the bar used to be at the other side of the pub. One or two scary women were in evidence the night I was in - and that's not how I remember it. Come to think of it, they weren't how I remember women either.

Used to be a great pub, then they changed the structure. Does it still exist?

As someone who walks up Claypath most days, I'm not convinced this pub exists.
