Maximise your enjoyment of this place; go for breakfast and a bottle of wine. Anything else in here is an absolute waste of time. Breakfasts, however are very good and the wine list had a couple of pleasant surprises...

Found this place several years ago now and though it was fantastic, in terms of food and the atmosphere.
Recently returned and while it still had a nice feel the quality of the food has definitly gone downhill. Still pleasant but I got the impression that the meals weren't made using really good/fresh ingredients.
I admit that perhaps I had high expectations from my previous visits but sadly left thinking it wasn't as good as it used to be, I'd be interested to know if maybe there's been a change of management or chef etc.
Worth a look if you happen to be passing but I don't think I'll be recommending this place as highly as I used to

This is a Caf by day and restaurant by night. Its ok sitting by the window and there is some outside seating, but it is a restaurant that calls itself a wine bar, in my opinion.
Ive not much else to say except that a bacon roll is 3.50.

I took 10 people to the restaurant yesterday. As last Christmas the food was excellent, the staff were friendly and efficient. The portions were generous. No incidents of food poisoning as previous posting has suggested. For value for money and very good house wine, I have no hesitation in recommending this venue to others. Not Good Food Guide standard, but damn good for what you get!

Couldn't agree more with anonymous's comments of 3 nov. Have been twice. On first occasion my wife got food-poisoning from what was quite clearly re-heated pork in a tepid and coagulated sauce. Both times, the service was slow and perfunctory and the food was stone cold - the burger and chips were particularly bad. Compare and contrast with GBK on Putney Bridge Road. As for Putney's best restaurant (comment 29 Aug), there are at least 3 or 4 better on the Lower Richmond Road alone. For what it is, it's not cheap and it's a source of continuing amazement that it is so busy. Not a great advertisement for the palates of my fellow Putneyites...

This bar and restaurant consistently lets me and my friends down as much i try to give it a chance. In the main it is the service which can be unbelieveably bad and the staff (in particular male members of staff)downright ignorant. The portions are big but 9 times out of ten arrive stone cold. This place is always busy but really doesn't deserve to be.

Putney's best restaurant isn't a pub!

I'm surprised to read comments about the service at Hudsons. I go there regularly and have always found the staff engaging, helpful and smiley. Go there mostly for the food, but have also popped in for morning coffee, lunch as well as a cosy bottle of vino for 2.

never been disappointed here but then never expected more than pub food. staff always friendly but accept the aloof comment on earlier posting. table position key to a good time, don't get stuck in the back and ask for window table.
|
Food OK, slightly aloof staff though.
Shame, as service can make a place.

As pubs and wine bars go this is fine - very much like a restuarant - does a very good happy hour.

As the title suggests, is a wine bar rather than a pub, and more restauranty one at that.
Was quite pleasant though, and as a pre-pub drinking/eating establishment, serves it purpose well.
