Major affray outside, after closing time last year.
Several people injured - perpetrators still being sought.

It's like a creche/playground. Crap choice of beer and and staff who are really not bothered. Cannot understand why it's cask marque.

In three words: absolutely bloody awful. I heard the place was under new management so decided to go and check if had improved from the dive it was when I last went about a year ago. It's not. If anything it's even worse. I went in on a weekday in the afternoon for a bit of food with my wife. The usual no-good-on-the-dole-loudmouthed idiots were at the bar, making it a very unpleasant atmosphere. The staff member who served us at the bar was unenthusiastic, slow and unpleasant. The food took far too long to come seeing as the pub was practically empty, and my chips weren't even cooked properly! My wife's salad was also soggy and warm, as if it had been left under heat. I think what must have been the manager next served me at the bar, and his attitude was no better than his staffs. He needs to take a serious look at the pub and the way he is running it. Would never go here again and would certainly not go through the embarrassment of recommending it to somebody else. Very poor rating, even for this area of stockport.

What a difference 12 months makes. This pub has changed so much. No longer home to the kids, idiots and sniff brigade, it has a very warm and welcome feel to it. The food is great now, really good value. The drinks aren't badly priced either. The staff actually seem to care these days and the manager is really hard working. She's made a big difference to the place and is always extremely welcoming. Good to see the pub run well by someone local for a change.

The Romiley Arms is changing slowly but successfully under the new manager Pat and his side kick Dee. Service is good and the staff are and have been frendly. Its nice to see that glasses are cleared when empty and tables are clean, over all the whole pub is kept clean and tidy. The food is standard pub grub but well presented and seem to go down well and Pat will soon be doing more than sunday lunches homemade with specials coming soon on a daily basis.

Agree with the last comment. There's alot of 'I am bovvered' types in there and an awful selection of beer/lager. Not surprising there's an awful council estate (Cherry Tree) up the road. To give it credit - the present landlord seems nice , and bowls out the back is great to watch and relax with.

The picture does this pub much more justice than it's worth. I think it was one taken on completion of complete re-furbishment in the early 90s. Particularly true in it's ability to disguise itself. Yes, it's another chain pub!!! - yes - serving terrible food from a chain pub menu and all round being second-rate and predictable with care-free ever-changing teenage faces serving drinks from behind the bar. OK in the day for a quiet drink, however on Fri/Sat night the teenage Blue Wicked/ Barcardi Breezer brigade take over and it inevitably becomes the usual sketch as seen on television's "Booze Britain" in this wet and gloomy in-bred retirement village out of the truly awful town of Stockport.
