Ye Olde Bridge Inn. Well I went last Sunday and the meal was 10 out 10 the beer was very good tables could be cleared quicker and more time spent on keeping the flies down ! This week 25/05/08 at 2.30 booking but eventually after reminding all and sundrae eventually got a seat but only beef left ( good planning) The beef was good you can,t spoil a good joint & veg was excellent but the rest was not anywhere as good as last week, consistency is not good here but I am told last week the 2nd Chef was on this week the main Chef was on ( he neeeds to know that Roasted is not deep fried and overdone new potatoes ought to be removed,he,s in charge so Gordon Ransay says The wife got chicken in about 4 minutes and she / me could not eat it along with the soft new potatoes ( no mint flavour either )and "deep fried " not roast potatoes,. We did complain but still paid 28.65 toward s the Chef,s retirement and bring on consistency when eating out and start to realise that good honest food is not difficult to cook and serve in a fresh way on a regular basis If they need a little advise Toby Inns has nearly got it right but this Pub has got everything but consistent well presented food. Let me know when the 2nd Chef is at the helm again !! and I will re visit

I recently visited the Bridge when i was travelling back from Durham with my family on saturday the 1st of march! We stoped in for a meal and a drink and i was over the moon with the waitress service and the quality of the food! The waitress was very polite and helpfull and there wa know mistakes! I would defently recommend the Bridge to my friend and family and if your a fan of real bitter try a pint of Tiger best drink ive had poured for me in a long time!

How odd that this pub hasnt had a comment for so long and here I am posting the 2nd today! What a warm welcome at the bar after an long slog on foot from Southwell, and thank goodness I arrived before the 3pm closing (on Friday), in time to enjoy Everards Original & Sunchaser in fabulous condition. I believe Tiger was also on, but I didnt spot it. Bonhomie, and good beer.

It's not ofton, in fact this is the first time I have felt compeled to post a comment on any establishment but...
On a recent visit to the Bridge Inn at Oxton with 2 family's, we have never enjoyed a lunch out so much.
The food was of top resturant quality the service offered by all staff was nothing short of exemplary!
We will definetly be visiting on a more frequent basis.

On 29/12, 10 of us travelled to this pub ( 6 from London) for a family meal and get together.
Food was ordered off a fair menu, that is where everything went wrong.
I have never ever been into a pub or restaurant where you get LUMPY BISTO /BEEF gravy with everything. I MEAN EVERYTHING, Chicken and leek pie, Duck breast, barnsley chop and best of all a cold raw in the centre sausage ring where the gravy was used to warm it up. The gravy was poured on to the plates before it came to the table so not a lot you can do about it.
We tried it but could not eat it and when we complained we were told we have always done it in the three pubs that we have had ????????
The poor boy who was in charge ( We found out later it was the owners son ) gave us a refund of one meal ( the cheapest one I add )
BUT all I can say if you are thinking of going do not bother.
Thank you for this site and for the oppertunity of using it to inform other people.
