user reviews of the Reform Inn, Pilton

please note - reviews on this site are purely the opinion of site visitors, so don't take them too seriously.

We have been to the Reform twice now and to be honest we have been disappointed.

Now I know that this goes against the grain of what everyone else says but we found the place a little odd and slightly depressing. Maybe we have been unlucky.

However the real ales (which are brewed on the premises were all very good.

5/10

A good walk from the station but this was the pub I had come to Barnstaple to try so it was best foot forward and.... The Reform is slightly hidden away off the main road but there is a pub sign high up on the roof to guide you! It's a straightforward boozer with very few frills but a very friendly barmaid and I was lucky enough to tag onto a party who were given a look at the brewery at the back. Not much to see to be honest but the others seemed quite happy with the visit! Three of their beers were available and although they were not stunning they were OK and I had a pint of the Barum Original and one of the EPA both of which went down well enough. If you are ever in Barnstaple you must go to The Reform and try the beer and decide for yourself.

Not a pub that can in any way be described as smart with the 60s decor masked largely by bright yellow-painted walls in the lounge which also had just 3 tables, some bar stools and a fruit machine. Just Barum's Original and EPA available yesterday lunchtime, the latter was good enough and just £2.90 but not exceptional.

Late comments from September. I am not a local. but would like to be. Always come when within holidaying travel distance and have done for years. Great beer and atmosphere. Enjoyed 3 of the Barum beers this visit.

Love this pub when I'm down visiting my rellies in Pilton. The beer is excellent and "not just for breakfast anymore" according to their advertising. They've got a skittle alley, a pool table and good jukebox. The locals are friendly too.

A proper drinkers pub with all the usual pub games and live music at weekends. Best of all its home to Barum Brewery so there's always a good range of real ale to try either in the Public Bar or the Lounge Bar.
