Queen Adelaide, Kingsthorpeback to pub details please note - reviews on this site are purely the opinion of site visitors, so don't take them too seriously.
The Queen Adelaide is well away from the centre of Northampton in the northern suburbs. It is a village-like location and was our favourite pub in the town out of 4 we visited on this Sunday lunchtime crawl. The ales were all national, with none from Northants - Adnams Bitter & Broadside, Greene King IPA, Fuller's London Pride & Oliver's Island , Sharp's Sea Fury, Castle Rock Harvest Pale & Cameron's Strongarm. I plumped for the Strongarm, which is rarely seen this far south. There are a couple of rooms. We sat in a traditional one, that had the feel of a village country pub.

Lovely pub, low beams (duck or grouse if you're a six-footer like me), hops over the bar, rugby shirts on the walls. Good friendly service, excellent choice of beers. I enjoyed well kept Adnams bitter and the star of the day, a golden summer ale from the Copper Dragon brewery in Skipton. Good parking, beer garden at the rear and two tables at the front of the building facing on to a quiet backstreet. Great chill out after the cricket.

this pub has a well-deserved reputation for good real ale, with 'guests' selling quickly. originally a farmouse (17c) it's hidden from the main road with good parking and a decent beer garden. while it couldn't be described as a gastro pub the food served is good quality, reasonably priced and plentiful.
the landlord is a keen rugby fan (supporting gloucester) and the bar gets very busy when a rugby event is being screened, creating a great atmosphere.
the downside? the landlord is young(ish) with a strong work ethic and an obvious enthusiasm for real ale but given to sarcasm and occasional rudeness to some of his regular customers; not exactly a crowd-puller from someone who professes to be 'customer-focussed'.
for all of that this pub is well worth a visit and easily the best-run pub in kingsthorpe (and ,arguably, northampton).

Beer is the Landlord's hobby - he's passionate about it. Nice pub, good food and lovely landlord and landlady - well worth a visit
