This is a locals pub, a little bit clicky, but ok. A cosy interior but the staff are a bit slow and not so friendly. My beer was past it's sell by date which was a shame as this is a Greene King pub - not one I'll be running back to though!

Fluctuates wildly between a very friendly and jolly local pub to something akin to the film Deliverance. If you go in at the right time you will be made to feel welcome and right at home, if you go in at the wrong time the regulars will make you feel unwelcome until you drink up ,and you and leave and let them get back to their dueling banjos!

Ill echo the sentiments of the comment below about the atmosphere not being great. There is a projector screen in the rear of the pub where all of the locals had congregated and there is also a large plasma screen at the front of the pub for showing the football.
There is a standard draught selection and I spotted three gravity fed barrels at the side of the bar, but the only label on display was for Old Trip.
I thought that the music was a tad loud for a week night when the pub is almost empty, but maybe thats the way the locals like it.
I wouldnt go out of my way to drink here again.

Greene King pub on the main drag in Hornsey. On the plus side I noticed two ales being served straight from the barrel, which (in my experience) is a rarity in GK pubs. I had a softie, though, so on this occasion can't comment on beer quality (which some reviews below appear to question). Definitely a local's pub and I didn't feel entirely at ease in here but that may just have been me being over-sensitive. It's quite dark inside but not unpleasant and there's a pool table at the rear.

Was in this evening - two ales straight from the barrel - very nice. Clearly trying hard to serve good beer add this to what was always a good honest local and I'm a fan!

Saw the adds for a mini beer festival so decided to give it another go, see my previous comment. Well they had six beers on, three straight from the cask, tried most of them and they were all very nice. They'd also extended their bottled beer range. A really good idea by the Landlord and particularly as the beer festival is linked to a number of charity fund raising events. Very glad to say that this nice little boozer is back on my list.

Can't drink the draught beer in here. I drink bottled - safer choice by far. A bit 'American Werewolf' really. Unfriendly landlord and regulars. 'The Hope & Anchor' nearby is a much safer bet all round.

was in there saturday quiet little place nice and friendly had Olde Trip on real ale - not a bad pint no hydes stuff in place like ALFINOX stated, must av been a guest ale. seemed pretty harmless will call again - nice beer garden by the way pretty little place that well worth a look !!!
|
Always liked this decent honest boozer. However, was in today and all they had on beer wise was some undrinkable Hydes crap and keg Greene King. I'm sorry to say that this pub is now off my list and I'm pretty disapointed.

had a xmas do here last week, lovely little pub staff right friendly not your gastro bar but one of the original boozers that are quickly dissappearing. some fair comments on here but not sure about nastyness to staff all girls were polite and a laugh when we were there. If you dont wanna be shoved up ya own backside like earlydoors then you will see its a cool place. Excellent Karaoke by the way!! good on yer - proper Local !

This pub looks nice and welcoming from the outside but how wrong can you be - I recommend looking is all you do. Both staff and customers alike are as unfriendly as they come. No decent bitter or wine.
|
dont know what smiley is on about thougt it was a good little pub, nice touch with the free food on weekends during the games!

Nice pub and nice beer garden.

would not drink here again in need of decor bar staff mingers and needs a good face lift.
|
I don't drink here much but when I do it's always been friendly (a bit rough round the edges mind - but most genuine community pubs are)the owners are doing a good job and keep the riff raff to a minimum - it was much worse a few years ago and after all it's not all bar one - good on yer a proper local
|
I do not like this pub. Bar staff are friendly though.

well is this just the place to be on a saturday or wot ? the new music thing is real great plenty for all to enjoy. great atmosphere and the new improvements look to be doin well. bring on a good o9ld drinkers pub !!!
|
excellent pub - lots of atmosphere - what I call a "Real London Pub" with loads of character - the locals are very welcoming and there is a family air about this pub. It's just what you expect a local pub to be. There are two areas so the choice to be quiet or loud is yours and the introduction of local bands is the icing on the cake. Its a great night out!!!!!
|
I dont drink in this pub , but from what i can see the new owners are doing a fantastic job.
|
This pub has got new owners and the place has taken a turn for the worse.
Full of dodgy geezers.
Avoid unless you like that kind of thing, of course!

All Bar One?
You're exactly what a pub like the Tavern aims to keep out by being like an old pub.
Probably why you don't like it.

Yeah this pub still retains some of it's Oldie-Worldy charm, but i'm not convinced. If thats what you're looking for then can i suggest the Queens round the corner in Crouch end. Or the Railway tavern up the road, near to Tottenham Lane. I'd rather drink at All Bar One!!!

If you're walking past late on a Winter's afternoon, you will see a beautiful orange glow seeping out of the windows of this place. Once you're drawn in, it's the perfect place to hole up out of the cold and sup an ale or two. Unpretentious and classic.

A proper local pub unaffected by the 'chain-pub' creep that spoils many pubs.
There's always a decent atmosphere as it's generally filled with friendly locals, and it can be a bit rough and ready at times - but that's why I like it!
