Leinster Arms, Bayswaterback to pub details please note - reviews on this site are purely the opinion of site visitors, so don't take them too seriously.
In this day and age of pubs closing it can be very disheartening to turn up and find your local has closed for good. But I've actually found something worse. Our local, well run by a good manager and his better half, is still the same pub but with a new manager who doesn't care about his business. Over the last couple of months the Leinster Arms has gone from being a friendly local which catered to tourists as well to being a tourist pub where the site of someone you know is quite rare. The ale has gone from being good to being passable, the staff go through the motions, the manager probably watches more TV than any of his locals ever did, in fact its somewhat like preplanning someone's funeral because even though they haven't gone yet you know they will pass on shortly. R.I.P. The Leinster Arms, its been nice knowing you.

Best pint of my trip around Bayswater Pubs. London Pride in great condition.

I have been visiting this pub since 1983, though it may have been called something else then. No memories of that time, other than it was up the road from my flea pit hotel. Nowadays wherever I stay in London I still pop in here at least once each trip, as its got a comfort factor that many pubs fail to match. Friendly bar staff, OK beer, TV here & there if you need it. Food too, though I have never eaten there. I have little idea why I like it so much, other than it fits.

Dropped in for a couple of pints with some work mates. Pub was nice, good selection of beer, the Haka was particularly nice!

Had a couple of pints on Monday 23/4. Not bad at all. Didn't eat, but food looked good. Friendly staff and good beer. Will certainly visit again.

One of my locals many years ago, and was just back. The Arms just had something about it that makes me come back. Haven't tried the food, but I found the barstaff quite friendly and the manager looked like a good chap. Clean pad to boot. Beers that I had mostly different lagers, were on good form.
Cheers, Joe USA

Staff very friendly, Excellent Food (pies and desserts), Well kept Ales (Jaipur IPA, Fullers London Pride, plus one other guest), lovely quiet atmosphere. Very convenient location if your are visiting Hyde Park, or are staying in Bayswater area. Highly recommended as a pub for a quiet drink and a read over a meal. We spent a very nice evening there.

TT Landlord, Ryedale Winter's Tale, Pride (off). Cheery welcome, but the girls were still cleaning the bar area at 14:00 (16Jan) & I don't find that fresh polish goes too well with beer. The pub seems to specialise in pies; this day's offerings being Lamb&Apricot, Cottage, Fisherman's, Woodland Mushroom, Venison, Chicken Curry Pie, but there was pinging coming from the kitchen area to the side of, and open to, the bar.

I'd agree that this is a pleasant, comfortable pub. Three real ales were on - Nethergate Azzaparrot, Taylor Landlord and Fuller's London Pride. Nice location. Friendly staff and clientele. Also has a good selection of bottled ciders, including bottles from Thatchers and Wychwood Green Goblin.

Largish single space around a central bar, with the aforementioned raised area at the front. From sitting here there is a raised wall/bulkhead containing a large number of assorted prints and paintings of a variety of things. Friendly staff, as said tasters offered. Pump clips of previous guests over the bar.
Pubby feel with a local crowd; the immediate area has a small range of local shops as well as the pub so probably serves a small village London community, very close to town. A pleasant spot on this early evening visit. Beers as described by Rex below.

A first for me for a long time we were actually given the choice of a straight glass or a dimpled mug. Now that is service. The real ales on were TT Landlord; London Pride; and Hawkshead Lakeland Gold. The first two are their regular ales, and it seems that during the (so-called) summer they are featuring a number of summer ales as guests. I had the Hawkshead Lakeland Gold (of course) and found it to be very hoppy, but refreshing and tasty nonetheless. All three ales were under 3, and all had a second clip giving a few tasting notes, plus the price and ABV. Apparently it is a Mitchell & Butler pub. The very friendly barmaid gave us a taste before buying, which I regard as a sign of a well run pub.
The pub itself is in a side-street off the Bayswater Rd. There is an archway to the right of it that might at one time have led to stables. Its now a one-room pub, with a bare-boarded area around the bar, but with a raised, carpeted, area to the left of the bar. There were no other customers in there at 5.00 PM on a Friday evening, but by 6.00 PM it had filled up considerably, but not to the point of overcrowding, with a jolly bunch, most of whom seemed to know each other. I found this to be a friendly, welcoming, and comfortable pub, and will certainly visit again if I am in the area.

The beer was alright, Pride and Landlord but the food was just sad, didnt have any pie though, but if they cant get roastbeef sandwich right.... While ordering beer take a look into the kitchen, it will make you think twice before ordering any food.

This was my favourite pub when living in London. Backgammon with Tony most evenings were a pleasure. So was thumping "Dale of the Yard" the local police inspector. I know that Olive has moved on and wonder how the place is now. I moved to Cheshire in 2000 with wife, Charlotte & Thomas.

tucked out of the way, this is a good pub for a few relaxed beers.better than most in the area.

Visited this pub a couple of times on my last London visit. Was just down the road from my hotel. Friendly, nice selection of wine. Looked like good food. I didn't eat, but heard remarks from others who did and they were all favorable. Was a welcome place to have a glass of wine before turning in to the hotel for the evening.

On two recent visits (2 and 4 Feb 06) I discovered this pub and was very impressed! Among other ales, Old Speckled Hen was available and is superb to my taste. A mother and daughter staff provided friendly service. Two lunches were most satisfactory, with the food fresh and hot. Either they have toned the music down (see other comments) or it just wasn't turned on in the early afternoon which is when my visits were.

This is my regular watering hole. They have an excellent rotation of real ales on tap - and properly conditioned! Bass, Tetleys, Bombardier, and unfortunately Pride. The staff is friendly and very stable. It is rare to see someone new working behind the counter. My one complaint - Please get new music. The music is awful.

I used to go to this pub 20 years ago while I lived in Bayswater. Right off Bayswater Road. It was cozy then and it's cozy now. Unreal how it hasn't changed. Spotless, nice staff and comfortable. Nice little hide away from Q'way and Bayswater.
