Food-led pub which seems to attract exiles from London pontificating loudly about drivel. Fortunately, they didn't stop long so were we able to enjoy the good food and drink - Sunday lunch costs about £25 for 3 courses and was worth every penny (I think the roast lamb was possibly the best I have ever eaten). No local Wild Beer brews on handpull unfortunately but on sale yesterday were Butcombe Bitter, Exmoor Fox, Dorset Brewing's Tom Browns and Plain Ales' Innocence - these were charged to our tab at £3.40 a pint. Cider was Rich's Farmhouse for just £3 a pint. Toilets were in need of desperate updating and cleaning which was a bit surprising given the publications in which this pub features.

Excellent pub. Very relaxing place to spend a Sunday afternoon in winter, when the lunch time crowds thin out and the fire is on. Fairly affluent clientele, but they always seem friendly enough. Really excellent pint of Butcombes to be had here too

Lovely traditional pub with excellent food, but drinkers are very welcome. Nice selection of ales with usually something from the nearby Wild Beer brewery. The fire was burning, and they had Wild Beer's Fresh on cask. Easily in my top 10 best beers ever! Very welcoming and we ended up staying longer than we thought!

Nice to see a pub with proper fires burning. The landlord was welcoming and an excellent pint of Plain Brewery innocence went down very nicely. The food seems to maintain its previous good quality.

Have visited a few times in 2011, gone gastro but a good feel to the place, three beers on tap, tasty home made style pork pies for sale on bar, dartboard, adn extensive menu for the fine diners.

Chanced upon this gem of a pub - good to see traditional pubs still going. A great selection of cask ale and as the bloke behind the bar told me, they change regularily and local - great! A pint of potholer with an awesome steak sandwich set me up for the rest of the day.

First impressions were of a slightly tired tatty exterior with some peeling paintwork and rotting woodwork. However inside was fine with two proper fires and a warm welcome from the lady behind the bar. Food was OK without being anything exceptional.There are plenty of good small brewers in Somerset so why do pubs like this not support them? One real ale on offer was the ever present Butcombe and the other came from Warwickshire.

I have always loved this pub. On my last visit the food was excellent and have to say it's my favourite pub in the UK. Well done, guys keep up the good work.

Back in for lunch, had a few pints of local ales, molecatcher and revival. Our party of 8 seemed pretty pleased with the food. choice of 3 ales. still a decent pub even if it has gone abit swish

Wonderful setting. Had a superb lazy lunch. Looked after by the new owners. Tried to be difficult but they took it in their stride. Good beer great pies and a simple tasty lunch. Definitely recommend to all

I recently stayed at The Three Horseshoes in Batcomb, just wonderful, it is a stunning olde worldy village and at the heart of it this amazing 400 year old stone built pub. The pub is beautiful and the staff all so friendly and helpful, i spoke to the new owners over an amzing drop of local beer (caution - the local cider is amazing but lethal), they have plans to really try and establish the pub as a name in the area and i think with what they seem to have done so far and what they have planned sounds brilliant. The food i thought was first class 9outof10, 99% of it is locally sourced and grown apparently, tasted great. The rooms were quaint and homely and at the price incredible value with tea & cofee facilities, digital tv and wifi. The gardens were well kept tidy and colorful.. I really cant fault my experience there, i have given it 9/10 because its meant to be even better and i really should leave some room for improvement. I recommend this pub! :o)

Visited last friday night, Pub has had a major revamp and looks very smart, bar staff are friendly and attentive, Had a friendly atmosphere, freshly baked excellent pork pies and chutney available on the bar. Choice of 3 ales, i forget the names at abv 4.1, 4.3, and the local area usual - Butcombe. About 25 people in for dinner, the food smelled and tasted excellent - not quite gastro pub prices, but the fish and chips looked great at a tenner in beer batter, pork belly was decent, in fact the others reckoned it was the best innovative pub food they'd had in a very long time- and theyre food snobs... The pudding were also very good, the chocolate cheesecake was a generous portion, Garden and village are both top notch with some great walks nearby, Food it definitely scored a 9.

A well presented pub with a lovely gardens and friendly staff, with a good selection of drinks. As for the food, it was quite reasonable although nothing fantastic. Maincourses were well presented and enjoyable, although not as tastey as they could have been. In particular the steam pudding was a washout, dry and flavourless, however the sticky toffee pudding was up there with the best of them. So a bit of a mixed bag, persoanlly I wouldn't go there again as I don't feel it is good enough to be worth the money. I appreciate that places have to charge more thesedays to make money with the rising cost of everything, but I can't help in feeling unless they can produce something a little more inspiring, average earners won't be prepared to part with there hard earned cash.

A pub that manages to serve excellent food-- but which is still a pub, and a very good one at that. The beer is good (a wide range) and the prices aren't all that high (though not cheap by any means).

Nice beer and well presented food but strangely quiet and antiseptic for what should be a quintessential English pub.

Fabulous buzz - open fires and incredible food. Own beer brewed by local brewery - very good
