Not bad food, but by the same token not exactly overwhelming. Cider was unimpressive, surely pubs these days can offer something other than the over-commercialised stuff that you can buy in any supermarket?? Service friendly enough very attentive.

You may be served by VERY young children who haven't a clue about service or much else. You can also guess at their rate of pay as you shell out your big bucks for your meal which may be average as per my experiences.
Previously listed building with interesting features unknown to present wall-ripperouterouters.

Basically a restaurant which happens to have a bar. Has Tetley Bitter, Landlord and Old Speckled Hen as permanent beers with one other as guest (Jennings Cumberland Ale on my only visit so far two days ago.)
Landlord was on superb form but expensive at 2.55 a pint.

Extremely smart looking pub (specialist food evening on my visit); good local beer amongst the usuals

4 real ales (Tetley, Speckled Hen, Abbot and Landlord), expensive. The Landlord was disappointing on my visit.

Trendy and mainly caters for diners, not much of a pub feel to it, lacks atmosphere, polite staff, real ales were in good condition.

trendy eaterie with good wine list, great food and Timothy Taylor's beers on draught - not much more needed for recommendation!
