On a recent Sunday visit,no Phoenix beers and Taylor's Landlord at 3 pounds a pint! Expensive for Lancashire

Visited on a Saturday evening, Bar staff friendly. A choice of 4 real ales including one from the local Pheonix brewery which tasted lovely. Would definately visit this pub again.

Living a bit on it's past reputation at the moment. Decent selection of cask ale including Landlord, a couple from Phoenix, a Bank Top brew and a guest or two. The beer is still OK but its just not up to it's previous standard, despite the same landlord, Mike Huck (Old Hucky in music circles), for years. Pub is slowly getting tattier and the excellent restaurant upstairs sadly closed late last year (a real loss). The music still keeps the pub rockin' though. Could do with making a comeback beer wise.

The Jam night at the Well is responible for something of a live music revival in the area with other local pubs now featuring live music. The Well also has live bands every Saturday.

Beer always been on good form, overall tatty and a carpet you can becomed glued to if you dont keep moving, can get very smoky.
