Probably the best local in the area although not sure the beers are always that fresh...

Enjoyed a few good pints of master brew yesterday before the palace game.Excellent pub and customers.

Karaoke starts too late (9pm). Beer is okay. Landlord very good. Atmosphere good.

Croydon's only Sheps pub is a short walk from Selhurt station and undoubtedly the pick of the three pubs in the immediate vicinity. Spitfire and Master Brew were on offer when I visited this week, although the Master Brew I tried didn't taste too good. The staff and locals were very friendly and service was prompt. There appeared to be plenty organised to keep the locals entertained, with karaoke, a quiz and 'happy hours' all advertised, but things were very quiet whilst I was there. There were large screen TV's and what looked like a projector, but I didn't see sport advertised - maybe this is saved for match days. And yes - there is a preserved crocodile above the bank of seating at the front of the pub. Not too impressed, but I feel a return trip, perhaps in the summer to check out the beer garden, is needed to fully appreciate the place.

Having just moved to the area, I went for a drink here because it had pretty good reviews. Was really chuffed to find a proper (probably antique) bar billiards table. The landlord was really friendly and even explained the rules. (Which was lucky, as I hadn't played since I was 12!)
Good real ale, reasonable prices even on spirits, friendly staff, pickled eggs and pickled crocodile. (My friends always want to go for a pint here, just to see the fabled pickled crocodile.) Plus a good duke box.
On match days it's crammed just before (aren't all pubs around Selhurst?) so avoid then if you want a quiet pint. It can be a bit too quiet, would be my only negative comment.

Nice quiet pub, even on a Friday night. One ale was off but they didn't offer to change the barrel or turn the pump clip round. Seems to be a place for regulars, and has a bar billiards table, which seem to be harder to find these days. Beer quite drinkable, but perhaps the amount of trade will prevent it from being truly excellent?

very freindly staff and regulars, brilliant beers, atmosphere. the best pub between croydon and crystal palace

Once upon a long ago this was my local. I have never found a pub to rival it's quality beer and atmosphere since.
Enough said.

I do love this pub

The first time I went here the Spitfire was off, so the barman lifted the hatch, went down to the cellar, put on a new barrel, came back up, pulled a few through, and then served me a good clean pint.
The second time I went here the same thing happened.
I mention this because some pubs say "well, it's off, there's Carling if you want"..... or some such nonsense.
The Two Brewers is a proper pub, and I'll be back for another pint or three of the Spitfire.

Recently redecorated but unspoiled. The beer has improved after an "off season" last year. and was in tip-top condition this week. Good home-cooked food.

Small pub and the only Shepherd Neame outlet in Croydon. Enthusiastic management and occasional live music. Comfortable (except when Crystal Palace are at home) and friendly. Good home-cooked food.

Nice pub in an out of the way corner, you won't do any better in this end of town

I used to use this pub regularly when I worked in Croydon some 10 years ago for a period of about 5 years and I thought it was one of the best little boozers I had been in. The beer was kept in an excellent condition always and the food was great value for money and I have been hooked on Shepherd ever since....glad to see that the comments are favourable.

If you like Sheps, and are prepared to go a bit out of the way then this is an excellent pub!!
Couldn't fault it at all

Excellent Shepherd Neame pub, though can get a bit smoky.
Popular with football fans on matchdays.
Recommend the Spitfire!!
