Courage Best, Otter Bright, Box Steam's Piston Broke and Butcombe Gold were on sale last night. Other than that, there's nothing else worth commenting on, it's just a very ordinary pub.

What on earth makes you think it has anything "up market" about it?
The pub is bog standard and is no better than quiet a few Wetherspoons I have been in. The beer selection in your average Wetherspoons is far better than the usual fizzy pop on offer here.

I agree with previous comments. It's not bad but lacks the touch that a good landlord (or lady) would bring.
They could definitely do with more staff, even on a slow Thursday lunchtime one person on the bar taking food orders and serving drinks is not enough.
Probably hasn't changed since MorkLoy's post in 2004

Reasonable enough place,warm on a freezing night. Tellys with Sky Sports news with no sound or pub adverts. Same chain as Assembly Bedminster but only Courage and Bombardier as real ales. Bar left un-womanned on several occasions on my visit. Place was shiny and clean and Bombardier was good I must say though.

This pub has some good pub food at reasonable prices and is a God send for people who work in this area as there is not anything around at this price that is safe. Why this pub gets a 3 is because the bar cleanliness is appalling. The glasses are always scummy because they are not polished after the washing machine. On highlighting this to a member of staff she got a glass and steamed it and then polished it only to tip my existing drink from the dirty glass into the clean one. The service behind the bar is also pretty slack as shown. As an example I had to tell the barmaid three times that I wanted a top in my beer. Once on ordering, a second time to confirm, and a third when she had pulled the pint, given it to me and not left any room for a top.

smith & jones pub - got a big screen for the football which Fishponds really needed. Food's not bad and there are plenty seats and different types of areas to sit
