When i last visited this pub well over 5 years ago i found it a very depressing place indeed. It does'nt really stand a chance with the plume of feathers next door. I doubt whether we will ever see it as a pub again.

As at 20th November 2009 this pub is closed. Don't know if it's closed for good of under refurbishment, but it looks pretty much as if it is no more.

The Railway Inn is now only a hotel, owned by the Plume of Feathers next door. The entire place has been refurbished and the rooms are now bright and pleasant with excellent bathroom facilities. Price is a little high 85 for a double for B&B. Breakfast was nothing special but plenty of it.
Food and beer next dor were good, atmosphere pleasant.

How the owners of one out of three pubs in the village can buy another then close it down is scandalous, The Railway Inn has been a successful pub in the not too distant past(late 90's early 00's) and can be again, given the right licensees that is. The building is full of character and it would be a terrible loss for it to remain closed or changed internally beyond all recognition.

This pub is now closed pending possible renovation by the new owners (ie Plume of Feathers)

This pub is now a disaster. Bar is closed but the accomodation is still offered by the joint owners of The Plume next door. The standard of accom is poor and smells damp. We checked it out and got our $70 per night deposit refunded. Such a shame as I used to think this pub was a treasure and booked to stay on that basis.

This pub, is an absolute treasure. They serve local beer, and they sell Scrumpy, all food is lovely and fresh.Reasonablely priced, caters for all levels of meals. There all really friendly. If you get chance book a ngt, they do accomodation. The views from the rooms over Dartmoor are amazing. Not far from the famous "dartmoor Prison"
