user reviews of the Greyhound, Eton WIck

please note - reviews on this site are purely the opinion of site visitors, so don't take them too seriously.

I returned to the Greyhound this evening. There were a few customers in this time and a choice of 3 real ales - Windsor & Eton Knight of the Garter, Fuller's London Pride & Rebellion Smuggler. I had the latter, which was perfectly acceptable.

The Greyhound was to be our final stop of the day on a short crawl of 6 Berkshire pubs. Sadly, there was no chance of a beerintheevening today, as it was a private Christmas party for the staff. Hopefully I'll have better luck next time.

Good local pub with no pretensions. Very efficient bar staff. friendly with a decent pint of Windsor and Eton Knight of the Garter at £3.25

The Greyhound has been reopened since May 2012. It serves. real ales, has free Wifi and hosts live music regularly. Substantially refurbished and has a skittle alley for hire. Also on FB

Just to say this pub, closed for some months is due to reopen in May under new management and should therefore see considerable improvements. Has been completely refurbished.

Now closed.

Dreadful. Visited at lunchtime. There was no menu. Barlady said she could offer cheese, ham and/or tomato sandwiches. Toasted sandwich arrived without any salad, cutlery or napkin and that plus a half of very indifferent GK IPA cost 6.30. Terrible value. I'll avoid this pub.

A grim and awful place. Went in one lunchtime with friends. It was deserted on a bank holiday when other local pubs were booming. It was dark and smelled of disinfectant. The bar staff when asked were rather unsure of what food they had on offer (and then said they would look in the freezer!). They also said the pub had no menus. We left quickly.

We thought we'd try this pub again after a really bad experience last time. It's very much IMPROVED. It seems that the new owner/tenant? has been there just a week or so. Three ales on when we visited and a good range of bar food. The beer was in good condition and the service efficient and friendly.
Certainly worth a try.

Oh dear. It was such a good pub. We visited lunchtime midweek and the place look rather scruffy and deserted. None (!) of the bar menu was available. The friendly barman fixed us up with toasted sandwiches (3.50). The Tinners was cloudy and off. We settled for local Windsor and Eton ale which was fine. The pub gave the impression that it's about to close- might be wrong, but it's a shadow of its former self. Pity.

June 2010. It's still a great little pub. Welcoming and cosy. We have always found the beer well kept.

Well can i just say its been a pleasure not only workin here but drinkin here. The locals are a fantastic bunch (a bit mad but great fun). Yes the pub has been taken over and we are doing our best to bring it up to the standard that people expect!! So how about making your own minds up and popping in for a drink and a bite to eat! We ave great staff and the best of locals so pop in and you will recieve the best welcome ever x x x x x x

Let's get this straight shall we! Yes, the pub is currently a little "tired" but the new guys are doing their utmost to remedy this, whilst making their clientele, old and new, most welcome! A new broom sweeps clean dontcha know?

Let them sort out the previously dire menu, tart the place up a bit and carry on selling great beer!

This pub is child/animal friendly and always good for a laugh. Come on you lot, spread the word around!

Hanging baskets are now appearing and the outside area cleaned up. It's a great place to drink in the evening, the locals (if a tad crackers) are friendly and welcoming.

So, you know where to go now, don't you!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I am not sure that I am reading about the right pub in these reviews! I have always felt extremely welcome here. The beer is in good nick and Timothy Taylor Golden Best is unusual for this area, as is the Tinners. Julie is a great landlady and its a shame the lease is up for sale. I get round quite a few pubs and this one, as a back street locals boozer, is a good one. It is a little tired inside, but this is a pub, not your front room!

This is a terrible pub but the lease is up for sale. Might get a decent landlord. The only good thing about this pub is Donna the barmaid who tries very hard to make the most of a bad job. Food is awful - cheap rehashed muck. Do yourself a favour get a chef.

I'd disregard the last comment made on this pub - I only found it in the last year but am delighted I have. It is a small friendly establishment and turns out a decent pint. Lovely land lady who has a couple of cracking dogs in the pub which give it a nice feeling

Yuck. What a hole. Totally agree with the last comments, me and the missus were made to feel very alienated as soon as we walked in. I asked for a pint and you would have thought I had asked if I could p*ss in a glass, the looks I got. Erm...guess what idiots, its a PUB - pub stands for PUBLIC HOUSE - have you got it yet? No? No I didn't think so.

Terrible boozer, the only people who can give this a decent rating must be those stuck to their chairs in there who have been drinking since it began. Steer well clear, normal humans.

SOMEONE HAS BUILT A VAST RATHER UNPLEASANT ESTATE RIGHT UP TO THE PUB WHERE THERE MUST HAVE BEEN GREEN FIELDS ONCE.
THE ONLY REASON I GAVE THIS 'PUB' A RATING AT ALL WAS BECAUSE IT SELLS BEER.
I WENT WITH A FRIEND LOOKING FOR A DECENT PUB ONE FRIDAY NIGHT AND WE HAD A REALLY HOSTILE RECEPTION FROM THE 'CLIENTELLE'.
IT WAS LIKE WALKING INTO A RATHER GRUBBY 'GREASY SPOON'. PEOPLE WERE SHOUTING TO EACH OTHER AND EATING SOMETHING AND CHIPS PILED ON A PLATE. THE BEER WAS POOR AND, HAVING GONE OUTSIDE FOR FRESH AIR (IN MARCH), WE DRANK HALF THE BEER. LEFT THE REST AND GOT AWAY AS FAST AS POSSIBLE.

THIS RATES AS ONE OF THE TWO WORST PUBS I HAVE EVER BEEN TO IN MY LIFE. PROBABLY THE WORST.

Friendly enough wee pub. Its a bit tired though. Overall good place to go if your passing athlough it doesnt really get much passing trade.

Great pub with friendly staff and excellent food. Well worth a visit!

Great pub. It is amazing considering that the pub is so close to Slough and indeed London that one can sit in the Greyhound having seen cows in the nearby fields and feel that you have enterd a pub in rural Devon
Nice staff , good beer and food and a felling of rural bliss
windsorsoup - 5 Jun 2006 11:00
This is a friendly local pub (full of locals, but friendly - they don't put their beer down and stare at you when you walk in!). It has three bars including a really cosy Snug bar. There is also a skittle alley and function room for hire. The food is very simple but fresh and tasty.
