i have nothing to say about this pub. mainly because it isn't one! if you want to drink wine on the sofa, do it at home!! the music? please!

One of, if not the best place in "the Grove". Modern, contemporary, and fairly classy. Nice booth seating, which for a couple might not be ideal, but for the drinking group is the ideal social seating arrangement. There are also a couple of sofas, which is nice for a quiet drink. The drinks are expensive, but they do have a good choice for a bar of it's size, especially of wine. The lunch menu is good, and the restaurant upstairs is very nice, if a little chilly and sometimes lacking atmosphere. The clientele ranges from trendy twenty-somethings, to smart fifty-somethings but this never seems to be a problem. Contrary to other reviews, I believe that the scally attendance is rare and minimal, largely thanks to the doormen. I have been to Browns for the last 4 or maybe even 4 Christmas Eves, and always had a good night.

Nice look to the whole place, although the seating arrangements are pretty stupid and also the bar staff tower over you when you order a drink! Nice place to have a quiet drink on a weekday though

Gets silly busy Friday nights, only two traps for the guys in the toilets. Bar staff do need to chill a little. Food is good but a tad expensive

Nicely decorated. Nice clientel of 40+ year olds. Only thing I would say needs improving is the bar staff. It doesn't hurt to smile every now and again!

I have always found Browns to be welcoming, friendly, busy! but a good place to go with good doormen who control the access well. Overall somewhere I would always be happy to stop in for a night out!

I'll agree with both of those comments, lacking in atmosphere originality and customer service is what this is. Went in last weekend and thought I'd mistakingly walked into a crack den! Don't know about this no trainers policy but all the local scallies seemed to be in there with their smart track suits and trainers. Queued up for ages to get a manky beer, not served in time I might add. Not my cup of tea thank you very much.

Both of those comments above are far too bitchey for my liking.....and they're not true either!!
It's a nice atmosphere and great food, and the staff are lovely, thank you!

if you like waitng to be served this is the place for you! unless you know the management you will be greeted by surly bar staff who will be only to happy to serve the person stood behind you with a wink and a smile. the drinks selection could not be more standard so to call this a bar is simply false advertisement, and the general atmosphere is uncomfortable. there is a no trainers policy so if your young and funky this is not the place to come unless you dig out those slip-ons!

A place trying to be a trendy bar but failing miserably at every turn. Its to light inside the seating arrangements are terrible and the drinks selection is straight from a 1980's pub. The fact it only seems to attract 40's - 50's locals who think they have a bit of money (and haven't) says it all.
