This pub is the worse pub I have ever been in. The staff are rude and very young and make you feel like you are a nuisance to be there The beer and wine is over priced The food is ok but expensive. I popped in the pub on Sunday the 16th at around 1pm. The staff ignored me and when I said hello I got no response. I did not get served and was ignored. Had food before cheese and bacon skins sad thing was could hardly find any bacon. Do not go to this pub forest of bere and harvest home much better.

very disappointing experience today... my fiance took me for what was supposed to be a lovely meal in the sun and after waiting for over an hour for a ploughmans and pizza only to find pizza was on par with pound special from iceland and ploughmans where do i begin.. salad was 3 days old at least, bread hard and dry and 1 piece had butter on it so probably scraped off someone elses plate! pickled onions were dry, apple was brown. all in all the worst pub lunch experience ever!

This pub would be alot more inviting if it weren't for the manager. Most of the staff here are young, and although not overly attentive, they are at least poilte. Whereas the Manager 'Steve' lacks any ability to be courteous. How on earth can someone so miserable and ignorant be running a pub? The owners of the pub must have a screw loose. There are too many examples to list, hence my decision to post this comment. My message to the owners of this public house, change your manager and you would no doubt see alot more local residents in your bar.

Oh dear.
What has happened to this pub? This was the best pub in Denmead but has now become a chav-infested cesspit.
The food, always mediocre, has now descended to poor. Aunt Bessie's Yorkshire Puds from a plastic bag!
The real ales are very poor, probably due to the long line from the cellar. There's plenty of fizzy lager served at the temperature of liquid helium for the chavs, when they're not going to the toilets together with a rolled-up tenner or rowing in the car park.
The interior furniture is tired and uncomfortable and the wooden floors make the whole place so noisy one can't hear oneself think.
The garden is an unkempt mess with a wreck of bouncy castle looking like an accident about to happen. The garden furniture is wobbly and likely to give you splinters. If you're lucky you might find a table not covered with bee-infested glasses and surrounded by muck, but we doubt it.
Avoid, unless you have a Burberry brain.

I'd call Anchovies a significant variant to a Caesar Salad so having no mention of Anchovies on the menu my wife thought it reasonable to mention that for her it rendered the meal inedible. They are an acquired taste. I judge a pub or restaurant by how they deal with complaints and comments. A response of "we always put anchovies in Caesar Salad" and a "huuurrummmph" at the lower end of the Customer Service rating. We're not regulars so didn't know they 'alway' put anchovies in their Caesar Salad. The staff were slow, unattentive and rude on making a comment. Not wishing to make a fuss - we left and will not return....at least for about 10 years. Living in Portsmouth we average once in 10 years to this pub, thankfully the current incumbents will be long gone by then. Beer was poor too.

Nice pub with an excellent large garden. Pleasant to spend a few hours sitting under the trees in the summer.

Refurb has certainly improved this place(not always the case) and the food was really good. Had an excellent pint of the guest beer - Proper Job. Well worth a visit.
