Real ale back on now, GK only though - IPA and Abbot around Christmas 2009.

Not a bad pub in my estimation, beer is good, looked after, no real ales though. People are friendly mostly, I don't think I have ever seen an argument in there above footy scores. The two Guinness drinkers are friends of my partner (it just takes time to work out their level of chat).

Friendly bar staff, and considering the toilets (for men anyway) are out the back, looked after, at least the smell is not urine.

On the disco, OK. sometimes a bit loud for me, but then I am a quiet, shy, retiring bloke. The Kara=oke seems to go well though.

Shame on 'tellyender' ..## '.two old Guiness drinkers who sit at the corner of the bar and never stop moaning!and a dodgy bloke with a cockney accent "lording his manner".## ' This pub has never had an 'ageist ' image , but welcomes all customers whether they have a bus pass or not.Unless we support and welcome the older generation into our local - and it is they who are more likely to frequent the pub mid-week when the younger generation are sat watching the telly- we could find a great pub like this only open between Friday and Monday'. Go on...buy the old lads a pint next time you are in... or they might sign in at the 'Empire / Liberal'.

Been in this pub agree with most of above comments friendly people, staff excellant great sevice given with a smile. There always seems to be something going on in this pub.
The only blight I would say is on numerous visits I have encountered two old Guiness drinkers who sit at the corner of the bar and never stop moaning!and a dodgy bloke with a cockney accent "lording his manner".
Watch out for these three guys!.

I aggree with many of the comments posted by the last visitor. The staff are cheerful and friendly and serve with a smile...unlike some of the other local ale emporiums in the town.I frequent this pub several times a month and have found the clientele a friendly and unpretentios bunch of folk.If you just fancy a few pints mid week in a friendly atmosphere the Plough is worth a visit..there may be a darts, dominoes or pool match in progress,or even the mid week match on the large screen SKY TV, which all add to impression this is a 'Proper Pub' where you go for a drink and not to be seen.

No frills local.Brilliant staff (your next drink is served before you have ordered it...and they can add up more than 2 drinks without the use of a commputer). The regulars area varied and interesting lot, always ready to gossip (or take the mickey). The pub supports several darts ,dominoes ,football and pool teams which play throughout the year. The tennants are are lovely couple who will make you most welcome...(that is if they are not on holiday).I would have rated this pub 9..but had to deduct 2points for the disco at weekend..the DJ wouldnt know a good record if you bought him one for christmas..and he can only work the volume and bass knobs.
