Another good pub, good range of ales and has a dart board.

Good drinkers pub, 4 ales on tap the 2 we had were fine, Exmoor brewery was one the other was Surrey Hills.
|
Came here as an alternative to the one up the road. On a visit one notices the reasonable sized car park, then there is the birds in the bird cage. They don't look cared for, and the beer garden does look somewhat run down. Inside the pub is good with decent real ale and some decent events on the board listed. A reasonable menu awaits any diners, and there is a pool table and darts board for those interested.

I well remember Workington Brewery Co. Ltd., who made their Golden Bitter for years before that. I first drank it in the 1950s in Barrow-in-Furness.

Don't believe the hype about Exmoor Gold! Four or five brewers had the same idea at roughly the same time in different parts of the country. In Surrey, for instance, Pilgrim brewed their first golden bitter, Crusader in 1985. Good choice of ales nevertheless.

Indeed, this place did seem very friendly; it appears to be family-run and there was the child around but not (amazingly) intruding on our enjoyment of supping at the bar. Some local and some not, I think up to 5 cask ales are served; the Exmoor Gold - godfather of the 'golden ale' format if you believe the hype - was kept very nicely as was the Fuller's, and reminded me how pleasant it still can be and perhaps a worthy occasional alternative to the current slew of high or super-hopped pale ales.
Looked very inviting with delightful log fire administering delicious aromas of burning wood - just right for the occasion. Plenty of space as despite the cottagey double-fronted exterior and historical features, the rear has evidently been extended probably to accommodate a burgeoning diner market. I daresay food is worthwhile; menus looked appealing at any rate.
Well worth dropping off at.

Always friendly, at least three well kept guests, and a dangerously well stocked annual fest' ;-)

I frequent this pub mostly late afternoon or early evening after walking the dogs, the Landlord and Landlady along with other staff have always been very friendly and professional. It has a good family feel to it, food has always been good and it has a comfortable ambience. Beer selection and quality is good. Very welcoming to well behaved dogs and children, dogs often get a dog chew. Spacious inside and plenty of outside areas to sit in and a lovely Bird aviary.

Nice pub on the corner of a village green. Doesn't look much from the outside, on a busy road, but nice inside. Plenty of room with both tables and comfy chairs around an open fire. Beers were fine: Doombar, London Pride, Exmoor & Surrey hills. Good selection on the menu and pretty reasonably priced too, chilli burger wasn't nearly hot enough for me but then I have an asbestos tongue. Friendly bar staff took care of us well. Prefer this place to the Red Lion on the opposite side of the green.

Great Village pub, larger than expected, landlord and landlady very very nice, and locals all friendly, free hot nibbles, which was a nice touch, and a very good band. good selection of beers and ales,
Highly recommended.

well run, lots of choice of both food and drink. Probably the nicest landlords i have met yet and always feel welcome here

Average village pub.

There is always a really warm welcome at this pub and all the staff are friendly and happy. there is always a real mix of age groups so you can feel comfortable however old you might be. I have eaten there lots and the food is great and very reasonably priced. The live music evenings are worth cancelling other arrangements for and the New Years Eve disco was an increditble bargain at 5.00 a head with a fantastic disco and wonderful food all in!

One of the few pubs I have used where you can see the following at the same time. Guys and girls in football strips Shooting parties after a day out wet dogs small children (behaving) Barmaids who smile (and mean it)

Just moved to the village and thought I would try it out. There are 5 real ales (as the pub mentions above) and the landlady was very friendly. I will be going back on Saturday night for some birthday drinks after a meal at the Red Lion down the road.

Think this pub is one of the better ones around. Yes you do get builders using it as their local but they all seem to be of the friendly variety and you also get a good mix of other people all across the board. Food is very good and reasonably priced and the atmosphere is a warm friendly one. Well done to the owners and staff alike - Keep up the good work!!!

This pub has improved enormously since the new landlord arrived. There is no more complacence, arrogance or rudeness instead there is a pleasant ,courteous welcome and an obvious concern that the customer enjoys their visit. The range and quality of the beer is very good.Keep it up. Good luck!

under new management, on the whole a most enjoyable evening

This pub has characters and even a 'muppetesque' balcony by the pool table where locals tend to practice impressions of Statler ans Waldorf.... Staff can be "short" and unattentive. The natives can be friendly (if treated well) but the Landlord needs to be avoided if Chelsea happen to lose. Could do with more female custom

This is my favorite pub of all time and although I live 8 miles from the pub I still regard it as my local. The beer is kept the best in the area and the London Pride is the best I have tasted. Ignore the comments about rude staff as I have always been made to feel welcome and even brought the odd pint by the landlord.

About as friendly as the taliban not my cup of cloudy ale

Not a friendly welcome by staff or owners, in fact darn rude is the word I would use.
