Attended a wedding yesterday and booked into the BandB here.

The room was pleasant but I won't dwell on that as this is Beer in the evening and not rooms for the evening.

Pub was fairly empty at lunchtime however, I met the landlady Julie who is very friendly and made me feel most welcome.

Only one ale on at the time which was Breakspear bitter however, when I returned the following morning they had also had a choice of 49er and another one from a micro brewery whose name has escaped me.

Pub has a tv for the football and a dart board which means it scores extra points for me. Breakfast was a big fry up which is just what I needed to soak up the couple of gallons of booze that went down my neck the previous day.

Really can't fault this place!

Excellent pint of Brakspears Bitter @ £3:30, also available was Pedigree & Red Rascal. Pub with Patio Garden, Good Food and Background music. Not many Patrons when I visited this lunchtime.

Adrian and Julie hosted my wife Sarah's 40th brthday party on the 23/03/13, Adrian provided us with various options for food, music etc and we settled on what in my opinion was an excellent deal for a full Hog Roast, two types of buffet, a variety of salads and side dishes with disco included.

It was an absolutely fantastic evening, we had IRO 70 guests and the food was excellent and in abundance, the Hog was cooked to perfection, (cracklin was served in beer glasses) and the buffet dishes were fantastic and very popular with our guests. The quality of the food was in a word "superb" and was certainly a WOW factor for the evening.

Nothing was too much trouble for Adrian and he worked really hard to ensure that we were happy and that everyone was having a good time. The ladies loved the disco as much as the chap's enjoyed the Hog Roast and the excellent beer - oh, and did I mention the excellent beer!!!

Adrian and Julie are both exceptional and generouos hosts, both Sarah and I have no hesitation in highly reccomending them, their food and their establishment and wish them every success in the future.

Closed again, possibly for the last time given the problems that its had recently. Very sad, I always liked the place.

Another change of licensee and it might be for hte better. Good Brakspears bitter, Hobgoblin also on. Food really good - as good a steak as we have had for ages. Good service from attentive and friendly barmaid. Let's hope it becomes a success again.

This is a pub that has had its ups and downs but deserves to be a popular haunt.

Under new management, and it shows! A huge improvement to the pub - atmosphere, excellent food (American style, huge portions, good quality) and decent beer (Brakspear's Bitter, Henley Gold and Hooray Henley). Friendly staff, too. Hopefully this pub will regain some of its former glories. Good luck to them.

Fairly good, got the ubiquitous Brakspears on as their Real Ale, but kept and served better than most of the other local establishments.

Lively atmosphere some evenings, and pretty clean throughout.

Tidy, but not neccessarily endearing however.

Nice enough pub with a fairly good atmosphere.

Biggest complaint I have when at this place is that the prices always seem quite high

Be patient when trying to get in here. No, you don't have to wait to get in, you just have to find the enterance. Music is a bit on the pop side. Sells Brakspear, is this a local brand or not? They also seem to sell it down in Hants

Seems like quite a nice place to for a drink.. Plus a jukebox but as for the songs they take ages to play

Usually very busy at lunchtime and quite smoky and uncomfortable - always seem to be jostling for a seat. The good beer isn't enough to attract me back after half a dozen visits.

Having witnessed one of the bar maids push a female customer to the floor outside the pub (resulting in the women being injured and calling the police) as she was trying to move them on I am a little put off this pub. Up until that night this was fast becoming one of my favourite Wokingham pubs, but such over the top actions by the staff against those just having a night out make me a little skeptical - surely you cannot physically assult a lady even especially once she is outside the pub? If you get the nice barmaid then this is a very nice quiet pub, but beware.

Recently re-opened after a big refurb. The pub is now modern, clean and airy - new Managers Viki and James are great fun and they have added new dishes to the menu. New hotel rooms have been opened - they are all ensuite and all have king size beds, flat screen TVs and wi-fi. Always been a great pub - it is now the best pub in town.
