This used to be the jewel in the heaton moor crown but since jwlees took over a couple of years ago the place has rapidly gone down hill.
The standard of clientelle added to the poor standard of food and over priced beer prices has made this pub a no go area .
Hugh Smyth the current landlord of the pub has a lot to answer for .

Awful place. Used to be a good boozer until taken over by JW Lees. Systematically kicked out the usual regulars (describing them as 'riff raff') to chase bohemian twenty somethings with overpriced beer and expensive food (which is twice the price and half the size). Do not go if you fancy real ale or a lager after work, they only serve San Miguel, Carsberg and JW Lees bitter on tap. If you want a good drink in Heaton Moor go to the Plough or Crown.

The elizabethan is a great place to go, whether its lunch with the girls or a night out at the weekends. there is no trouble as now over 21's. i must say i love the new refurb and its now my regular. Thanks J.W.Lees

Big pub set back from leafy Heaton Moor Road. I have no idea what it was like pre-J.W. Lees refit, but it now feels rather bland, like one of the cleaner Wetherspoons' pubs. I can only assume the scattering of low-slung leather sofas is an attempt to seduce the post-office professional crowd and, judging by the clientele on a recent Thursday evening, it appears to be working. For me, this is nothing special at all, but is probably worth stopping by if in the area for the Lees cask ales, all of which are cheaper than you'd expect for a pub of this type (2.30ish/pint). 6/10.

I've been to this pub for drinks in the beer garden a few times, and thought we'd try eating there. I felt so disappointed with the food that I won't go back again. My partner and I (plus two other friends) ordered a starter and main meal. The starter took an hour to come out (after reminding the waitress). After eating the starter the waitress asked if we wanted desert - even though we'd ordered our mains with the starter over an hour before. The we both ordered Kebabs for our main meal, which were just awful. The portion sizes were so small that I asked the waitress if she'd bought me the starter by mistake. The meat was tough and dry, and not much of it. There was a small amount of 'boil in the bag' type white rice and a bit of salad. And this cost us 25.90 for both meals. What a rip off. I should say that in fairness our two friends had the moroccan lamb shank which looked better, but this just left us starring at their food in envy when our plates were empty. I think there are far better places to eat around heaton moor, and I won't be eating at the Elizabethan again.

I have been aware of the Elizabethan for a long time but never actually been in it. I had heard that it had been a bit run down for some time though. I finally visited last week on a Friday evening with some friends for some food and drinks. The pub has had a major refit and had big money spent on it. The internal decor and fitments are now in the style of typical wetherspoons. The pub is a JW Lees pub and has an extensive menu.

It all looked very promising indeed however having eaten and taken into account the comments from my friends,i would say that the menu looks promising but the food was very average and the final bill represented poor value for money.

Rather disappointing given the refit and i would suggest that the landlord does some major work on putting this right as this pub could really fly if it has high quality food and also a good selection of Real Ales.

NONE EXSISTANT GUEST ALES WHICH ARE ADVERTISED OUT SIDE. FULL OF PRETTY BOYS AT THE WEEKEND TRYING TO CATCH A GLIMPSE OF THEM SELVES IN THE MIRROR

Trendy pub with good outside space in a busy area popular with the young at weekends. Spoilt by poor bar service from insufficient staff, not unknown to take 10 mins to be served - profit before customer care me thinks.
