Still a 'pizza and carvery' pub with drinks an afterthought. Not even an IPA available these days but the punters don't care, they're there for the cheap food.

Closed for a refurb but will re-open on 27/05/16 as a 'Pizza & Carvery'.

The place doesn't appear to have changed at all since "wirraldrinker" was there. It must be doing something right as it was chockfull of families, most of them queueing up for the carvery. I couldn't even see what meats were on offer. The only change on the bar seemed to be the loss of one IPA pump, leaving three. I didn't bother trying it but moved on to the Ship, which has a much better selection of beers.

Went for a carvery meal last night. Can't really go wrong for 3:99 ! The downside is that it is full of families some of whom shouldn't be allowed out in public. The drinks selection is for the uneducated, mostly fizz plus four pumps all dispensing the bland Greene King IPA.. Be aware that the car park is now 'pay and display' 2 for two hours but you can reclaim the 2 as soon as you spend 5 in the pub by tendering your ticket stub.

Can't fall off with a carvery for 3.50! Not that exciting in drinks terms, but there is the promise of Greene King real ales soon, I beleive.
|
Mostly an eating pub rather than a drinking pub. Standard selection of beers. Views over the Dee estuary. Often crowded with families due to outrageously cheap carvery. Avoid if you are simply a drinker.

Had a meal on a Sunday and the Staff were fantastic and looked after us.Tad expensive for the food we got but we enjoyed the occasion.Worth a visit for the location alone.
|
Had a great meal there. Staff went out of there way to make to make us all enjoy the evening. The beer was very good. They are getting cask ale in there shortly. 12 oclock bar every Friday and Saturday.

Just don't waste your time unless you're a lager freak with a taste for poor cuisine

Country yuppie with tasteless yuppie lager.
|
Shocking lager. I'll always have fond memories of the place, but it's just a serious no no. It's no wonder it was the last one to be refurbished by the brewery! It's trying to copy The Glegg and failing in spectacular fashion.

Dont bother! A truly horrible place. Real ale was last served in this place 10 years ago and has been replaced by the commercial norm.

It's not old and there's no quay (any more). A truly awful modern pub. Commercial beers and below standard food.
