Had an hour or so to kill in Portree during a whistlestop tour of the Eastern seaboard of Skye, and this was the first place I came to. Two handpumps serving Caledonian Deuchars IPA and Black Sheep Bitter.
On asking for a pint of Deuchars I was informed that it was off, which begs the question why was the pump clip not turned round to show this? As a result I had to settle for a pint of easily obtainable English beer (this is not by any means a slur on the beer itself) when I had hoped for a rare Scottish ale...
The pub also has big screen sport. Bar staff not exceptional but friendly enough.

Real Ale available. Quality variable to say the least. Do not believe the certificates for Training and Beer Quality - they must come easily in Portree. Food variable also. Good quality big screen

Stayed here over-night a little while ago. We found the rooms to be very dirty, the en-suite awful and the breakfast barely edible.
We tried to eat there the previous evening, we had to send the food back as it had completely congealed - we went to a pub elsewhere in Portree to eat (where we enjoyed it very much).
The beer was off - I had to drink lager as the Skye Brewery ale tasted like stale acid (normally the brewery's beer tastes great); to top it off, the staff and landlady are very rude and unhelpful people.
All in all, a very unpleasant experience. Shan't be going back in a hurry.

Great place to have an evening meal, looking to stay overnight next time

I booked in to this Inn purely by chance. I was showing my Australian nephew round Skye 2 weeks ago. We almost went to another place nearby, which we had inspected and found OK.
The Isles Inn was far better. Nice real fire blazing in the bar. The rooms were very comfortable. Breakfast was good, and to top it all it was 5 a night cheaper than the other place (25.
I can recommend it.

We went to this pub on recommendation of a couple who had been there recently. Couldn't remember name so tried 3 other establisments in Portree Square or very near - all very poor. Had a great meal and enjoyable evening. Definately recommended. PS We are late 30's/early 40's but still think this was a good pub - we've tried a few !

Cute, very cute. Plays up to its Island image but pretty much gets away with it. Amongst the better establishments in Portree depending what you're after.
