Service was perfunctory and we immediately felt that we weren't particularly welcome last Sunday. It came as no surprise to learn that this pub is now part of a chain which also runs the Sun at Hook Norton (which we walked out of about 3 months ago). The very smart interior suggested to me that it is aiming for well-heeled diners as its clientele. Ales were Landlord, Hooky and Proper Job but I decided that it was Madri weather.

Lovely looking pub in a delightful village.
Busy on a bank holiday lunch time.
The food was excellent value and very good.
The beer not quite so good. Courage Directors and Doombar on. The Doombar will be filed under average.
Would go back.

I stayed at this pub with my 3 childen at the end of a canal boat holiday. I thought it had a great atmosphere and all the staff were friendly and helpful. All the food was from local suppliers and cooked really nicely. Of all the pubs we ate ate on the holiday this was the best and most reasonably priced. The rooms were clean, comfortable and mine had a great view.

This used to be a lovely pub - not been in there for a couple of years - what on earth has happened to it? I gather the owners sold up some months ago. Food, which used to be excellent, was mediocre to put it politely and the atmosphere in the pub is zero. Really sad to see a good pub having gone downhill so dramatically.

An excellent find. The beer and wine selection were excellent. The staff friendly and informative about local events and places to visit. Rooms were comfortable and well looked after. We will definately be staying again! Highly recommended

A lovely feel to the pub and the food was very good indeed but the accommodation was the worst I've ever stayed in. The shower was broken, the bed very uncomfortable, floorboards were very noisy and it wasn't too clean - and it was expensive at 68.00 for a double room. A real pity because the staff were friendly and efficient and nothing was too much trouble but I would not recommend staying. I had such high hopes.

This is a pleasant country pub in a small attractive village. It has a number of small rooms and a pleasant garden at the front. Beer, when I visited, was Hook Norton bitter, Abbot and IPA. The food ranged widely from panini and baked potato to more substantial meals and seemed carefully cooked and efficiently served. I was very pleased that they were flexible about food serving hours.
