We were really looking forward to visiting here being fans of railway and brewpubs but the ales were very disappointing in quality and lack of taste.

large screen sports orientated bar though does now have it's own ales. Okay as opposed to good.

Better than i was expecting . The place had a wild west saloon feel to it when we went in there and we liked the atmosphere of the place. My pint of Christmas ale was superb and we felt quite at home sitting by the etched windows reading the papers as the winter sun shined in. Interesting outside toilets. A good boozer.
10/10

If you are connecting a train Not many choices nearby so maybe just settle on this one.

Ok for the station. Directors was cloudy. Guinness was good. Locals packing the patio making the place look untidy. A blokes pub. Strong smell of bo and cigars in the bar. Ok for a quick pre train pint.

Returnbed to this pub after 23 years only the other weekend. We were on a stag weekend return on the Sunday wghen we stopped off and had a few pints before catching the train back north. It was a friendly little village pub then - it's SKY Sports, sports pub now with a more modern look which pobably needs a touch up. Lancaster Bomber, Directors and Courage Best on and the Courage was a fine pint. Never had time for the rest but the pub is near at hand for the station and seems to be doing ok. The football was on and there was a few in but more passing trade than bar regulars. I'd go back but won't leave it 23 years next time around.

yeh again ok just ok , c/b and hunters gold only real ales on , standard choice everything else , what can you say not bat not good.

Only visited the once, when there was an England rugby match on, very busy but quite friendly. It's a long way to the loo though!

Convenient for the station. OK covered smoking area at the front, but the attempted smoking area at the back is worth a look... Decent pub, not one to go out of your way for.

next door to the station, so highly convenient if waiting for a connecting-train . well-kept beers . if you're not really a pub person, more bars or cafes, you would feel comfortable here as the outside coverd terrace is very continental (and covered from the rain ) and the inside is quite airy . however it is also very much a pub traditionalists cup of tea, had a good interior and local atmoshere . i would hapilly have this as my local if i lived nearby .
