I have read all reviews on this pub and some of what i read is true but as far as smashed tables are concerned this is rubbish, yes some of the locals are a lil rough but all polite and friendly its easy to judge somoeone covered in tattoos and singing on Kareoke but if you see past that and not judge a book by its cover then its a different story, no this aint a pub for toffee noses its a down to Earth Pub with real atmosphere with that bustle of people talking and having a laugh as you walk in, my partner and i go every time we visit Scarborough and yes we look at eack other somethimes thinking god at some of the Kareoke and some choice customers with choice language but its a Pub for God's sake its a proper Pub! The beer and Lager is always on form the Landlady is very nice, chatty and welcoming, the food ive seen come out looks good too, its simple if you aint one for going in a tradtional Pub with all that goes with it dont go in its that simple! To sum things up its a lively upbeat pub little rough round edges but apart from that the atmosphere is great although i must say the toilets need sorting out big time apart from that an enjoyable drink and time in there see for yourself...

Visited a couple of years back. Attracted to the wonderful sound of live music. Ended up staying the rest of the night until kick-out time. Packed to rafters, great atmosphere.

me and my partner have been to scarborough for yhe weekend and had a great time in the newcastle packet on sat day/night...............if you dont have a gud time in this pub you really do need to have a personality transplant, v.pleasent,v.clean and v.v.v.v.good guiness........................now planning another weekend if you want to know how to have a gud time please go go go go x

the band referred to earlier was SOUL REBELS , we had a great night and the band are superb , they are back on this friday and me and the girls will be heading there for another night of soul and northern soul music , great ..

Nice hanging baskets.......but thats all thats nice about it!!!!! Inside it is an sbsolute DUMP!!!! Toilets stink, carpet is filthy,, beer is crap and the karaoke is a joke.......If you need a piss ...just put on a nappy instead of popping in!!!!!

Not been in here in a couple of years, but seemed to be full of council estate types supping Stella Artois. Rough.
Not that rough a pub compared to others in the town although there were a few dickheads present and this was a quiet midweek evening. I can imagine it being a bit rough at weekens.
Called in a couple weeks ago beer was just there but had a excellent band on called Soul Rider and had a top night.
Not quite as bad as some of these reviews make out but disappointing inside. No real ale.OK for an odd pint but the nearby Golden Ball is a much better bet and the beer is much cheaper
there's no pleasing some people, my wife and i visit Scarborough aprox 6-8 times a year and every time we go, we go to this pub especially on Fri/Sat nights to watch the local bands and they are BRILLIANT AND FREE,the place is allways bursting at the seams with holiday makers, weekenders,stag/hen parties and locals, the atmosphere is always great, the beer/lager/guinness is cold and served how it should be, the bar staff are rushed off their feet but always happy, smiling and polite, if you don't like the place then DON'T GO IN, go elsewhere and be miserable.
No choice of beer due to being tied to a multi national supplier, miserable staff, landlady is always asleep upstairs, plus they go back on their word when booking bands without reasonable notice or excuses. Spend your time and money elsewhere.
the building is attractive but nothing else was. pub for the hard-drinking, noisy types.
No real ales. The pub looked far from from appealing, but the location is good. I turned around and left for The Golden Ball.
This establishment showcases racist 'comedian' Adrian Lee on thursday evenings. If offensive, stomach turning, racist filth is your cup of tea then this certainly is the place for you. If, on the other hand, you are a little more discerning in your choice of entertainment, there several far more suitable alternatives in the beautiful town of Scarborough.
Mucky, nasty rough pub with terrible offensive standup act when I was there. Go to the Golden Ball nearby. It's better in EVERY way.
Not as good as it used to be in the 90's but still the busy'est pub in S'boro & when the Karaoke's on the atmosphere is really good. You get locals & tourists mixing with no problems hear !!! I've never seen any damaged Furniture here neither !!!

We have been going to this pub for years when we visit scarborough and I have never seen a broken table yet, Full and noisy, but the best New Years Eves we have ever had, Landlady very friendly, IF you go with the right attitude it can be a fun place to be.
It's not that bad, a few dodgy fishermen will eye you up when you walk in, but stand your ground and you'll be fine, just don't beat them at pool !!!
I have to agree this is one of the Roughest pubs i have been in in my life......

Quite possible featured in Sky's "Roughest pubs in Britain"
A scary place, went in on an early afternoon and it seemed like a wasteland. Drunks were been carried out, broken tables laying around! And this in the early afternoon...
