please note - reviews on this site are purely the opinion of site visitors, so don't take them too seriously.

Almost 5 years on from it's demolition and it is still a deralict site with fencing around it.

Makes you wonder how the pubco's make any money with development sites of 1 acre plus just left lying like a wasteland.

Rumours abound about this pub's future - assumptions have been made that it is to be torn down and replaced by housing, and indeed the hoardings have already been put up, after the manager and staff were reportedly forced out with very short notice and a police escort in September.
However, I suspect that for now that is nmore to keep the vandals out. I understand that its owner, the unremarkable and pedestrian pubco known as Mill House Inns (no relation to the Mill House down the road) were bought by the ever-greedy and ubiquitous Punch Taverns last month for 164m. The plan is to re-launch all their houses under 3 of Punch's existing brands, including the pseudo and entirely uninspiring "Chef & Brewer" label. As yet Punch haven't announced that any ex-Mill House pubs are to be sold, so it seems that officially at least, the Causeway's future is on hold. Nevertheless, if there is a local developer pushing hard enough for demolition they may decide it's more lucrative to sell than re-open. Time will tell.
Personally I hated the place and won't miss it, although as a nearby resident I'd rather have a pub than boxes of "affordable" flats or whatever. It was a working-class, family-orientated bar and restaurant serving cheap and nasty food and poorly-kept ale.
But, lest we forget, it was many people's local, and it served a community which will otherwise be bereft of a local boozer. Not to everyone's taste, but with a limited market around the area for a quality pub to appeal to the really discerning types, this sort of place was very relevant and served a clear purpose.

I would recommend keeping well away from this pub I was there yesterday and the food hygiene was disgusting could not eat it and refussed to pay, Im sure there must be people walking around today with upset stomachs, the food was cold and old, I was asked if I wanted my food put in the microwave as people had complained about it being cold!! My wife saw the chef (I use that word loosely) licking his fingers as he pushed some poor persons mashed potato around thier plate, I will never never go there again.

Yes indeed a nice pub if what you are after is a night watching chavs and gypos fighting. Last time I went there (and it will be the last) I left after watching a burly looking man punch his female companion in the face after a furious row. I work and live very locally to this pub, as do a few of my friends. Needless to say we go elsewhere.
