Very cosy and pleasant on a cold winters day.
The place is very hard to find but certainly worth seeking out. Had a couple of great pints sitting by a lovely fire what could be better than that.
The only thing I found a little odd was that we were the only ones in here the entire time we were in there which was a Saturday lunchtime.

Lovely traditional pub, history goes back to 1347! Enjoyed the beer (Butcombe Best Bitter) and the food was great sat by a lovely log fire. Midweek in January therefore very quiet. Recommend parking in the "Park & Walk" if you have a big vehicle like our van.

Lovely old pub. Good range of local real ales. Superb food... although a bit more up-market than pub grub. A bit tricky to find... and don't even attempt to get into the car park. Park in the village and walk... you'll see why.

We were lucky, getting a table to eat on a Friday night on spec, and a place in the car park as well! (maybe don't try it if you have a large car or one too many of their superb local ales!). Did have to wait nearly an hour for the food to arrive, but it was a step or two above yer average pub fayre (they have got Egon Ronay & Les Routiers recommendations) so it was worth it. Definitely recommended.

Stayed at this pub last year. The rooms were great and the service at breakfast fantastic, great sausages Twed.
If you are down this way definately worth a visit but in the summer if you want to eat on a Friday or Saturday evening book or get there very early. Even though I was staying there there were no tables left by 6:30. In my opinion that can only be a good sign for somewhere that is so tucked away.

Beautiful setting and good beer. Wanted to go back and have a meal there as portents were good but will have to wait for another time. A gem.

(More) new owners took over in May 2007 and the early signs are good. Beer reduced to 2.50 and they seem to keep it well. They still need to sort themselves out with their menu, but I am sure they will do this once they have a look around at the competition.

Slapton is a fantastic village near to both Dartmouth and Kingsbridge and must be home to one of the best pubs in Devon! i visited the Tower Inn during a Bellringing trip to the South Hams, it was 11:30am and some of us thought we'd try to get a quick pint before we headed to our next destination, well we got to the Tower and unfortunately it was closed and didn't open til 12, it was raining and pretty cold so we tapped on the door to see if we could come in slightly earlier, the door was opened and the Landlord quickly obliged. the inside of the pub is truly fantastic with Hops hanging from the wall and the bar, the real fire roaring away, it was a lovely atmosphere, i didn't try the food but i understand it is good quality, but i did try the real ale, Butcombe Bitter and St Austell Tribute were on and both in tip top condition, the Landlord was in good spirits and had a good sense of humour i just hope it doesn't turn into a real "gastropub" as i understand it is in Egon Ronay's Gastropub guide 2006! long may this pub stay like it is and cater for locals and passer by alike.

Truly excellent food - one of the best pubs in the county. Old (14th century?) and attached to the tower of a ruined monastery. Decent beer and wine but the food is the real highlight - particularly the locally-caught fish and seafood. We've been here manybe ten times and the only time we've been disappointed was in the height of the summer season - understandably, but it was still a shame. The best time was in the middle of winter, having excellent food and a glass of wine next to a real fire. The garden is very pleasant too, nice and well cared-for.
