Good pint of Wainwright.
Reasonable price.
Friendly service.

It's a dump.

Backpackers pub. Expensive draught and bottled beers (£4+). Probably trading on its location more than anything. Clean but unspectacular and had nothing that would make me want to go back there again.

This is definitely got to be one of the worst boozers I've ever visited - and that's saying something as I've lived on the nearby Lisson Green Estate for more than 15 years and the pubs around here are fairly rough - went in recently to meet up with a friend and got a pint of warm lager in a dirty glass. The place was full of nasty locals shouting at the footie on the TV. Minding my own business at the bar when the guy next to me attempted to pick a fight with me claiming I'd splashed beer on him ( not true ), told him I'd be happy to oblige and he backed down only to be verbally assaulted by the half witted bar staff and told to leave which I was also happy to do, and all this in a pub situated directly opposite Paddington Green nick, one of the biggest police stations in europe. Won't be back, if it was the last pub left in London off licence beer is better and the company at home is nicer.

Pretty much the only pub in the area, and a poor one at that. Completely soulless atmosphere and disinterested bar staff. Gets busy with passing trade come 5pm but absolutely nothing to justify a visit. Better pubs in Paddington if you're in the area generally.

Wow, what a turnaround, new kitchen, new look and even some decent craft beers on the fridge. I tried one of their burgers not expecting much and it's honestly one of the best burgers I've tried in London and I do consider myself a bit of an expert ha They had secret DJ which meant I was able to pick a few of my favourite tracks as I munched away happily in the corner, try the burger and tell me I'm wrong.

Chav-tastic. Sweary, rowdy and no management control. Avoid, I say.

Absolutely dreadful attitude and customer services. Staff are rude to the point of aggression for no apparent reason. Would not recommend to anyone for a drink let alone an overnight stay. Abysmal overall.

Friendly local pub, youth hostel upstairs adds to the atmosphere, cheap drinks every night between 4 and 7pm! The pool table has gone and so have the dodgier clientelle, only pizza available on the menu, but a good place for a few drinks before hitting the West End!

I went to this pub last weekend with my husband..we were planning on one drink and ended up staying for 4 hours! It is a 'local' pub and everyone knows everyone...but that's what made it so great...people spoke to us and made us very welcome. We went on Karaoke night and it was great fun. The bar staff were great and prices reasonable..... I would suggest to everyone in this area to go and visit!!!

Fairly uininspiring single room traditional style pub offering only Marston Pedigree on pump as well as a range of normal and premium lagers. Furniture mostly traditional chairs and tables but a couple of the dreaded sofas and two or three flat screens on the walls for footy watching.
Live music is offered on Thursday evenings and although this is not a great place it is better than most of its neighbours.

We visited this pub 3 times in 3 days. The pub grub was very good as was the service. It has been fixed up nicely both inside and out. I would recommend this pub to anyone staying at the Hilton Metropole across the street.

Visited again lately and has improved somewhat since my review of July 2008. Now very much the bar of the adjoining youth hostel, which seems to have succeeded in ridding it of some of the more aggressive local elements - it's now very full of young backpacker types. Not somewhere one would travel to visit, but it is at least bearable now, which reflects well on the management. Adjusting my review from 4/10 to 5/10.

i have been visiting this pub since 1973 on regular bases, nothing much changed. recently changed hands few times. no one knows how to run this pub. few days ago pool table has been taken out, about 35 regular pool lovers left. really sad. some of the barmaids are really good, manager zero rated. pub is also redolent of unpleasant smells from the gent's toilets

Recently visited this for the first time in about five years. I remember it being pretty vile back in 2002, and it's perhaps improved slightly - but not much. The pub was dominated by a local weirdo moving round the pub bellowing loudly at various people - I thought it reflected poorly on the pub that he wasn't shown the door, to be honest. The front part of the pub is also redolent of unpleasant smells from the gent's toilets. Not very good.

Had a pint of strongbow in here on Tuesday pm. Air con pretty good, a selection of ales available. I didn't notice how dirty my glass was until too late. 2 girls walked out while we were at the bar due to the service. Not a good experience apart from the air con.

Went to this pub last night (17/03/06) with a view to meeting friends and going on for an evening out.
OK, so it's a pub. It's near Edgware Road tube. It serves something resembling beer. That's about all you can about it.
It is in a scummy part of Edgware Road (remember the BBC series about Paddington Green a couple of years ago?). The people at the bar last night were intimidating, shell-suited lager louts. The Guinness in there (it was St Patrick's Day) was vile. The teenage (i.e. under 18) girls and boys made it a thoroughly awful experience.
Will not return. Not if you paid me. Crap beer, crap atmosphere, nervous looking landlord serving people who looked like they were on methadone. Rancid.

STOP PRESS: I am glad this pub no longer has Sky, the football idiots were destroying the karma.

This is my local pub and my family have been drinking here for well over 30 years. Geoff the landlord is a great bloke but has a no nonsense attitude so if you cause trouble then he will remember your face!
The bar staff are constantly changing and you can be guranteed the staff are always going to be funny and welcoming- the landlord wont have moody boring staff at this pub!
The food is cheap and is really nice and there is a huge range of beers on, football nights are usually packed and there are pool competitions on tuesdays. If you walk in on your own you could feel intimidated but the people who drink here are very very friendly and you will find yourself making friends with them by the end of the night.
Try this pub, the juke box is really uptodate and the atmoshpere is great!

STOP PRESS: THIS PUB NO LONGER HAS SKY SO DON'T SHOW FOOTBALL. AS MATCH DAYS WERE THE BEST DAYS DON'T BOTHER!

good mix of locals, tourists and passing trade on their way to the west end. not bad food for the price, friendly enough, good pool table and large screen tv and 2 small screens, very busy for the chelsea match the day i was in. worth a visit.

This was the first pub I went in after moving to the area and it is a great local I think. Nicer inside than you would think. Big screens, good pool table and cheap food. Despite previous comments I found landlord (maybe new?) very pleasant and welcoming. Not pretentious, not dodgy, just a decent little pub.
|
Slightly scary looking locals, but they're friendly enough. Pool table and cheap drinks improve the place as well!

good atmosphere with friendly locals and good cheap food. the fish and chips was especially good value at 2.99. the only down side was a very unwelcoming landlord, though the bar staff more than made up for him.
