Pub has now been replaced by a shop
Even though it was a bit rough i always enjoyed a pint in here when travelling to Southend

It's not a real pub - it's just a station bar. The Cork & Cheese is over the road if you want a proper drink.

The Monk & Fisherman is not so much a pub rather than a smoke-filled, carpetted dustbin that sells alcohol. The ambiance of the place is best discribed as crimal neglect meets down at heel chav. Regulars look to be dressed from the blue charity bins not 100 yards away and the Police Station is conveniently situation just around the corner

Handy if you're waiting for a train from Southend Victoria Station, or if you're a student at the Tech with 15 minutes for lunch.
