Good range of beers, a friend of mine from London enjoyed his time & beers in here

Okay kind of pub with an entrance to streets on both sides of it. Ale was a let down - Purity Mad Goose was not a patch on what it should be like.

June 2015 OPEN with new management. The only decen pub in central Hastings. Beer in good condition with useful range. If you like ear blasting and good beer this is for you. They will turn it with alacrity.

Seems closed again

This Pub is great - Good wholesome Food, excellent quality beers, I drank Dark Star Hophead and Timothy Taylor Landlord . Very interesting Tiles on the wall depicting specific Historical scene's .Well worth a visit . Bar staff informative and friendly .

Visited for the first time last week and was impressed. Good selection of beers and a friendly staff. Atmospheric interior and the tiled murals are wonderful. Mind the steep steps down to the gents.

This pub has been under new management since 2012 What a brilliant job he and the staff have done. It has good selection of 3 regular ales + a guest ale. Good food is served to late afternoon. It occasionally has live music. A gem of a place in the town centre.

Excellent pub, very friendly staff, probably best pub in that part of Hastings, bit pricey but good choice of beer and well served. Definitely worth a visit.

Best pub in town centre, beers always in good nick, nice friendly bar staff, decent music (though not to loud) and usually a decent atmosphere....if you want better in Hastings then you would need to go along to the Old Town. Oh and also worth mentioning they do a loyalty scheme..buy 9 pints and you get the 10th free...this doesn't have to be in the same evening.

The reopened Havelock is a welcome addition to the Hastings real ale scene. Good pint of Timothy Taylors last week and also had Youngs Special and Harveys. It is sparsely furnished but clean and tidy with a large stock of spirits and cocktail mixers.

The General Havelock, not just the Havelock anymore, reopened today (Friday 20th April) and has started with 2 real ales, the ubiquitous, in these parts, Harveys Sussex Best, and the better (in my opinion), Youngs Special Bitter. Another 2 handpumps will be added gradually. It will be open from 11 to midnight Fridays and Saturdays, and close earlier other days, again, seeing how it goes. Food will be started up in about a month. Good luck to Jamie and his colleagues, and his venture, worth visiting for the tiles alone!

I talked to James, who is the new manager at the Havelock, yesterday. The place is being refurbished, should be open in March as a real ale pub, probably open days and just Thursday to Saturday in the evenings. Chavs will not be the order of the day when it reopens, James keeps a good house and cellar and already has staff ready to work there. It is an Enterprise Inn, but James has had a big say in the refurbishment. Looking forward to the reopening!

Still closed, but looks like refurbishment is taking place. Will look out for introduction of handpumps.

Closed at present due to landlord losing licence, unfairly in my opinion. Despite being an award winning pub, hasn't sold any real ale for years.

I have been in this pub many times over the years and have had some really great times in there. We sometimes go in after a night out at about 11pm and really enjoy the older music to current hits. They play the music to suit the clients and they get it pretty spot on. There are not too many annoying young kids in there. It is mainly late twenties to fortys in there. I have seen the odd bit of trouble in there but nothing over the last couple of years. They have a nice door man in there who knows most of the customers now and does a good job. This place is ideal for a good laugh when out with mates.
