Lovely tradional haunt with a perfect pint of Robinsons to be enjoyed. A pub for people who enjoy pubs.

Here last Saturday early afternoonand fair croud in. Some light piped music is playing in the background. Just 3 hand pulls with one not in use. Tried a pint each of the 2 Robinsons ales Unicorn (£2.75) and Trooper (£2.90) which were very nice indeed.

Report from Stockport night out 31 March 2012: The Pineapple was our next venue. A pint of Robinsons Unicorn was sampled and was found to be on good form. Solid, no frills boozer.

Get well soon John

Back street locals' pub with a good range of Robinsons ales. Not amazing, but worth popping into for a pint on the way to the Crown, which is just under the viaduct from the Pineapple
|
Populated with extras from Shameless with infants in tow with Abba numbers blaring out for the duration of my brief visit. I tried a pint of the Hatters which was awful - I left it as I could see some kind of row ensuing if I took it back with the crowd that was in there. A complete hole with no redeeming features.

Decent no fuss boozer, decent pint of Robbies. Good dart board and pub darts to go with it. Looks like the electricians are in at the moment. lots of cable hanging from the cielings.
|
Old fashioned pub nice pint of robbies very welcoming landlord
|
I cannot understand how you can dislike this pub. Very friendly landlord and customers. Good value food and beer and a good old fashioned pub.
|
Agree, very average indeed!
|
I just cant understand why this pub has this status as being "good". Very very average. Not a patch on the magnet and the crown.
|
Who the f**k suggested this mediocre boozer for the top twenty.
Get a grip for crying out loud. The Pineapple is a bog standard Robinsons house that is pleasant enough, ale drinkable but nothing special. Some folk are easily pleased.
RANT OVER!!
|
I didn't find the warmth that the last 3 reviewers posted, or the smart lounge area described in the 2010 GBG.
However the landlord was friendly enough, the beer(Hartley's) in good condition and incredibly Cheap. Bitter (unknown)is as little as 1.66 in "happy hours".
The plate collection won't feature on the antique road show.
For the first time visitor there are many pubs in Stockport to prioritise before experiencing the ghostly (sic) charm of the pineapple.

One of the very best of Stockport's real pubs. Friendly staff, locals who talk to you, and a great pint of Hatters in a pleasant but unpretentious house.
|
The first pub we visited as part of our Stockport crawl. Very friendly landlord and customers. If you want to hear about the travails of Stockport FC this is the place to come to.
|
Do not allow the scruffy exterior to put you off. Inside is a little gem with one of those rare landlords who actually appears to like his customers and welcomes you whether you are a regular or not. The Robinsons is above average (I have never had a bad pint) and the food is cheap and excellent, albeit unlikely to get into Egon Ronay any time soon.
One of the best pubs in Stockport.

Lovely traditional little pub, often overshadowed by its neighbour the Crown. It has been included in the 2009 Good Beer Guide (for the first time, I believe). 4 hand pumps on the bar, with Unicorn, Hatters, and Cumbria Way the regulars, along with seasonal beer Spellbound on 'Black Friday'. In a start contrast to the Crown, the Pinapple was very quiet, with no more than 15 people in the bar. The Cumbria Way I had was in tip cop condition, the service was friendly, and the 'Commercial Room' very comfortable!

Old-fashioned, no-nonsense boozer, as is the style in Stockport. Just up the road from the Crown so worth including on a crawl that includes Heaton Lane.
|
Traditional Robinsons pub on Heaton Lane, a stone's throw from The Crown and Stockport's famous railway viaduct.
The interior features low beams and a fine collection of souvenir plates from around the world. Windows with "Commercial Room" and "Smoke Room" inscriptions would indicate that this pub was multi-roomed in days long gone.
The Robbies Unicorn was 2.04 in here, seemingly cheaper than most other local Robinsons pubs.
The Pineapple is a pleasant enough pub, but probably suffers from having the Crown Inn nearby as competition.
|
Superb traditional style pub. Good friendly welcome. Top form Robbies beer with Unicorn still under 2 per pint!! Top class.
|
Tremendous. The Pineapple is not the busiest of pubs and can't be described as a 'bustling or 'energetic' pub instead, this pub could be considered a safe haven as it removes you from that world and takes you to a bygone era.
As soon as you walk in you are surrounded by working class regulars who are both welcoming and friendly and with the pub ceiling so low it gives a sense of security. The pub also sports fine ales (although few) at good prices, serves good food and with it's fantastic 60's juke box this pub is ideal for a quiet quaffing any day or night.
If you like 'Robinsons' look no further. Marvellous.

A lovely little pub, this one. Spotted it on a random visit to Stockport last week, and found it nicely kept, a great beer on cask (Cumbrian Way) and some very friendly people - especially the barman! :o)
Highly recommended if you're ever in the area!
