The White Dog is a lovely pub in an idyllic setting. We popped in for a few drinks over the weekend and found the staff and punters very friendly. Busy on a Friday night which is always a good sign. There was a pool table there too in a separate room if that takes your fancy.

I've been using this pub a lot over the last few months, the location is fantastic with views of Bodiam castle from the back garden. The beer is good with a wide choice of bitters from local brewery's and the food is also very good. I would highly recommend.

Stayed here for one night to attend party nearby. We were delighted and would not hesitate to return if in the area. The room we had was comfortable with beautiful views, breakfast was superb. The staff were welcoming and seriously interested in beer and food. I recommend this inn whole heeatedly!

Very helpful staff, good Harvey's Bitter and guest, excellent food, 3 good bedrooms at very reaonable price.
Far, far better than the Castle Inn at Bodiam.

Visited the White Dog early on a Saturday evening and enjoyed a pint of Harveys and a terrific meal. Staff very friendly and helpful.

Went to this pub last weekend, apparently have a new Chef, food was really good - lots of choice - had their scallops with black pudding and pea puree v. good followed by the lamb, perfectly done. Staff were friendly and helpful when I was there. Not on the cheap end of the spectrum but was worth it.

Re-visited this pub after many years...quite a difference. Used to be warm, friendly and serve superb food. Now the welcome is virtually non-existent and the food was distinctly average despite prices suggesting something far greater. They always say "never go back" - and I won't be. Shame.

Looking for somewhere to eat on Bank Holiday weekend, other local places were full, ended up here on a friend's recommendation. The beer (Harvey's) was OK but not great. Service somewhat shambolic. We waited for a table in the restaurant section, were told it ws ready but it wasn't properly set, and could have been cleaner too. This is acceptable in a basic pub charging pub prices but this place has pretentions and charges restaurant prices. Starter of olives, chorizo and something else (it was not memorable) was straight from a supermarket. Wife's chicken Caesar had some sort of gloopy dressing on it - not exactly unpleasant but not a proper Caesar dressing. My seafood risotto was overcooked and overpriced.

Although I've been in many much worse places, this one isn't somewhere I'd make any effort to go back to.

Well off the beaten track but worth finding on a summers afternoon to sit in the garden enjoying the lovely views across the Rother valley towards Bodiam Castle. Harveys seems to be always on alongside London Pride and on a recent visit Wells Bombardier.

A great pub, with a lovely garden overlooking Bodiam Castle. Camp site next & B&B if you want o escape the city. Friendly locals, decent Harverys and London Pride. Good reange of food from normal pub fare to an fantastic garlic seared steak, and splendid Sea Bass
