Very nice place for a well kept ale and comfy seating in the "snug" by the fire. Friendly behind the bar too and locals were a laugh when my friend tried to exit through the door marked "Toilet" LOL

arfajob, you have indeed only done half a job ! Your praise is apposite, but the opening hours are normal pub times, with the slight exception that it has been known to close a little early if empty (esp on a Monday night), Beer always good and the food is a bit pricey but quality.

Adnams Broadside was excellent, 10/10! Interesting village pub, with rustic furniture, one bar and three rooms. More of a restaurant than a pub, with very limited opening hours, i.e. during the week 12-2pm and 6-8pm open to 10pm at the weekend. I think that's what the landlady said, but it might have been the effect of the Broadside? Best to phone and check if you are planning a visit. Didn't get to taste the food, as we happened to go in on Valentines night and they were only doing a set meal at 25 a head. Not your basic pub grub here though. They have their own smallholding which provides the meat for the tables and the veg when in season. They also state on the menu that they forage for a lot of their ingredients. Worth visiting for the excellent beer even if not eating from the admittedly pricey menu. Very warm welcome too.

Great place to sit and watch your next meal in the farm yard walking about, for this reason they can put 5 on a meal which they do an average price is around the 15 mark. Is bit of an accident black spot with cars hitting the wall outside other than that it`s an OK pub.

Lovely rustic pub with a warm atmosphere and great beer. Very friendly and helpful staff as well. Didn't get to try the food, but the menu looked great. Very nice pint of Adnams Old Ale. Would return if in the area again.

popped in with my 4year old. Lovely old Adnams pub with a lovely snug almost in the shape of a barrel. The staff could not have been more helpful offering to take my drinks to the table for me, the food was pretty nice. But best of all there was a really nice atmosphere in there, a few locals chinwagging at the bar and it felt like a nice locals pub with lots of us tourists to boot. Outside is a smallholding with a good selection of animals (didnt like to tell son may potentially end up in the sandwiches)

Lovely traditional pub with good ale and friendly service.

New management arrived about a month ago and thought I'd give this a try as the previous posts related to the previous people. I was not impressed. The place had the feel of a tea room and not a pub and you'd find more atmosphere at an undertakers. I was also expecting more 'restauranty' food as Adnams has always bagged it as this but it was mediocre pub grub and came a very poor second to the Golden Key round the corner, which is superb. Staff seemed friendly enough and upped the rating for this place.

I am really disappointed, having just visited this pub. A board outside proclaims proudly that is has been voted "Suffolk Dining Pub of the Year 2006".
Whilst the pint of Broadside was superb, the landlord was surly, and pretty unwelcoming. The lunch menu didn't even extend to a blackboard of substantial meals, as written below. Just a "Menu Rapide", with the ubiquitous Thai green curry/rib-eye steak/potted shrimp array of choices. Nothing even remotely tempting.
I'd probably head back to check out the evening menu, however with the ever-impressive Crown just up the road at Great Glemham, why tolerate the rude landlord in Snape?

Oh dear! Oh dear! Absolutely wonderful beer (Adnams), lovely funiture, wooden benches and settles. Most pleasant garden, albeit rather utilitarian, but sadly only substantial meals served at lunch time. Called in for a light lunch and a pint last saturday and an enquiry for food was met with a gesture toward a black board displaying full meals. No trace of sandwiches or ploughperson's. What a shame!

One of Snape's three fine pubs. This one is much more for dining than drinking really but a)the food is good b) the beer is truly excellent (Adnams Broadside was the best I have ever tasted) c) no children under 14 and d) old-fashioned wooden settles. Grrrrrrrrreeeaaaat!
