Frequent winner of the Dudley and South Staffs Camra pub of the year. Deservedly so.
Lovely are for walking - with the sheepwalks and Enville Hall nearby.
The pub building is part C16th and can trace its pubby origins to 1718. Its several buildings knocked together and tardis like inside, with multiple rooms leading onto to each other. Demands exploration.
Beer wise, there are 7 real ales marked up on the chalkboard - all midlands based but it is linked to the local Enville Ale Brewery - so I didn't get past the £3.20 Enville Ale.
Wonderful.

I met the landlord and the local Enville brewers on a visit to the Great British Beer Festival last week and I had promised I would visit yesterday. So I did indeed venture here after a much awaited first visit to the nearby Cider House at Wootton. The Cat was busy at 12:30 on a Sunday with people sitting down for Sunday lunches. There are 3 rooms. We retreated to a rear dining room. Ales were Enville Ale, Ginger & Simpkiss Bitter. Guests were Stourton APA, Hobson's Town Crier, Millstone Tiger Rut & Ma Pardoe's Original. Ciders were Farmer Jim's Farmyard Fruits & Lyme Bay Jack Ratt. Still worthy of a stop if in the area.

Excellent beer here so understandably has won several awards from the local CAMRA branch. I tried the Enville Ale for £2.80, the Enville Blizzard for £3.40 and the Enville Old Porter. Also on sale were Enville Ginger, Timothy Taylor Boltmaker, Three Tuns XXX and Worcester Sorcerer. Cider was from Hairy Ferret. Nothing under 4.1% so be careful! Food is keenly priced but, overall, average in quality (nice soup though) - the vegetarian Sunday lunch is a joke however, being a traditional Sunday roast with the meat taken off it i.e. a plate of vegetables for the same price as a roast beef meal. Good service throughout our visit.

Haven't been here for several years. So I made a return visit on Saturday. The pub is a nice, roadside pub in a small village. It was reasonably busy with a mixture of drinkers and diners. There are a number of rooms to choose from to sit. Enville ales on were Ginger, Gothic Ale & Simpkiss Bitter. Guests were St George Dream Weaver, Salopian Firkin Freezin' & Exmoor Gold. The cider was Gwynt y Ddraig Black Dragon.

Nice looking, old fashioned pub which is owned by Enville Ales with 4 of their beers on and 2 guests when we visited. All sampled were excellent and from what we saw of the food it was reasonably priced with good portions. Understandably it's won a few awards from the local CAMRA and the new licencees seem to be doing a top job.

Visited on the 27th December for beer and a meal. Some great beers,Enville White & Ale both well served and in excellent condition. Food however was another thing! Table was reserved for 12.30, we arrived at 12.15 and ordered by 12.20 but the food did not arrive until 13.30 !!! I now know that there had been a local point to point on. The owners or management should have known and put on more staff or if they are going to have a reservation system take care of those who took the time to book. In my opinion the management need shooting. Would I visit again? Yes, the beer was great but I'd have to think twice about eating there.

Called in here on a Saturday evening recently, my first visit for a few years, and was impressed. There was a very pleasant crowd in, some were eating food that looked excellent but we concentrated on the beer. Enville ale in good form and also the guest ales we tried. The Black Sheep was superb. However, beware the disgusting gents'... hold your nose and avert your eyes.

Called in when passing earlier this week, and what a find. A real old fashioned pub, with real fire, and good food. They were serving Cotleigh "Barn Owl", Saltaire "Cascade Pale Ale", and Enville's "Enville Ale". Will surely be calling in again, and again, when passing.

What a find. A 'proper' pub in the 21st Century. Excellent Enville ale- even had a replacement pint brought to the table when they realised that the next one pulled was the end of the barrel. Good value food-try the steak and ale pie. Check opening times though before you go, closed on Mondays and Sunday hours are 12 until 5.30 with food until 3pm. Don't know who has given the low ratings but a 10 from me.

Rating is very strange indeed. Excellent beer, very good food and a fabulous building.

Nice place, pleasant people. Haven't tried the food but seems popular. Enville Ales available, tried Enville Old Porter today, I'm going back!

Rating seems very low for this fabulous village pub - not many places like this left, where you can sit in front of the fire in a real 'traditional pub', i love it here!
