Spent part of Saturday afternoon in here watching the Rugby. Very friendly staff and beer (Longman Long Blonde) was great. The home made pork pies were also superb and reminded me of what pork pies should be like. Definitely worth a visit.

Lovely food and drink in here yesterday. Staff nice and friendly. Nice place to visit.

went last sunday for 1st time in bleedin years, primarily to see lunchtime jazz. not only were the gypsy jazz players fantastic, but the food was terrific, and apart from the ubiquitous harveys they also had Downlands Ruskins Ram which was in prime condition.i,ll be using this pub again, and recommend it to anyone crawling round the north laines area.

Regularly call in when in the city. Beer well kept and locals are friendly though staff turnover seems high. Nice food and free wi-fi

Have been to this pub for Sunday lunch several times now, each time the food has been amazing! Proper roast with all the trimmings. Gravy is out of this world!
|
Went for a roast here a couple of Sundays ago - amazing! Huge portions, proper home-made yorkshire puds & gravy. Very highly recommended, tell your friends! Lovely staff & great beer deals too.

we always end up hear after going to laugh ourselves silly at the Komedia. Stays open late, decent selection of wine according to the girls anyway, and beer in top notch order.
But... but... but.... there is something I can't quite put my finger on that means it doesn't quite do it for me

Nice atmosphere, cosy pub, eclectic decor. Could do with a better selection of drinks.

Just popped in for the first time, lovely little pub. Now sells Harveys which is ok. Nothing particularly gay about it, but this is Brighton :-)
Lovely girls working at the bar!
|
Lager bar - slightly gay maybe - nice enough for a few drinks but suffers from regualrs blocking access to the bar.
|
Walked past today, now advertises itself as a bar & sandwich bar. No sign of any handpumps anymore either

A recent menu change means this pub now offers some of the best pub food in Brighton and Hove (since the sad decline of The Coopers Cask). I had a generous and delicious slow roast belly pork with home made chilli jam in ciabatta for 5.95. The pub was almost empty on a Saturday lunch time and those people who were around weren't eating so try this place out soon or it may stop serving good food, which would be a real shame.
