Ploughman, Werringtonback to pub details please note - reviews on this site are purely the opinion of site visitors, so don't take them too seriously.
Situated in a modern shopping development in Werrington, this is not the sort of place you'd normally expect to find a real ale pub. But all credit to the landlord, he has a good local following. Unfortunately a recent beer festival appeared to have depleted stocks. There were 5 ales - The Beer Studio Copper Blush, Cameron's Gabbo, Marston's 61 Deep, Woodforde's Wherry & Wells Eagle IPA. There was no real cider. I was offered Rattler Berry Cider. But that wasn't what I was looking for. Still, I was happy watching my the first half of my football team's pre-season game. Sports TV is clearly big here. Worthy of another visit one day, as I suspect this was an off-day.

i took the number 1 bus to Werrington but got off in the "Village" so had to walk round to the "Centre" but it was well worth it. A classic 1970's pub linked to a slightly derelict shopping precinct which is now totally dominated by Tescos who as has alreayd been mentioned want to knock the pub down to build loading bays for their lorries. I signed the petition but was told that there is a year's stay of execution so perhaps Joe Public can at last defeat the might and greed of Tesco!! I met a local CAMRA official and the landlord and I have to admit that this place is a prime example of what can be done to a very ordinary building which nobody would expect to sell real ale let alone a selection! Apparently the licensee likes his beer and installed one handpump for Oakham's JHB Bitter which proved to be so popular that other handpumps were installed and there are now around 6 beers on tap. Well done that man!! It has just been voted local CAMRA Pub of The Year and really is worth the bus journey from the city to enjoy and support this community boozer. They do pub snacks (sausage rolls/pies and filled rolls); there are two bars although the main "public" bar seems the most popular where they have TVs (one featuring pub events and customers). It really is a shining example of how the right licensees with good beer and a positive outlook can change even the most unlikely of pubs into a proper boozer!! You really should make an effort to get there.

this pub has been voted the CAMRA local pub of the year and I was curious.
I have to say this was a friendly, community pub that served good cask ale at a reasonable price and the staff and regulars were pleasant and polite.
good luck to you all....

Well , bloody hell what a change, the simmonds brothers have worked wonders here. This pub is always busy, full of friendly people, and the beer is great too. What a change, pub landlords around Peterborough, could learn from this!!!!!!!!!

Now a thriving pub in the Werrington Centre. Usually three real ales on from independent brewers. Enthusiastic landlord who has a passion for real ale.

I have only been in this pub once and thats it. If you like lots of very pissed people mumbling about things you cannot understand it's great. However if like to have a decent conversation, and be friendly forget it.
