Just tried to visit this pub but the bartender told me it's now no longer open to the general public but its only open for booked functions. It appears there was a wedding reception on at the time of my visit, otherwise it would probably of been shut! A pity really as it had been a great pub when I first visited a few years ago.

I hadn't been to this pub before the refurbishment. Reading the comments below and not being from the area I kept an open mind when I went last Saturday night. It was indeed quiet to begin with but the place started to liven up a bit later on. I personally didn't mind the decor at all and thought the place looked pretty immaculate without being sterile. Give it time to be lived in a bit and I'm sure it will have character. The bar staff seemed friendly and the pints of Lytham Cunning Stunt were delicious and well kept, despite the place being open three days a week. Really not that bad!

Well what can i say, this has gone down hill big time.As others have reported the new decor has done nothing to help matters.I visited on a saturday and the beer as bad as the paint job.I was the cellarman when ben unsworth was in charge, how things have changed for the worse. This bar won many awards for the beer and had a great following of people, but i fail to see how you can keep beer perfect when open only three days a week. This bar was allways full over the weekend and a good crowd every night. This is no fault of the long standing staff, but yet another one of the councils master plans for improvement.I would say the only way forward is to put it out to tender and hope for the best. How the mighty fall.

Until not very long ago this was a pleasant lounge bar with comfortable red banquette type seating, a fairly mature clientele, motown or similar style music playing in the background and 8 handpumps dispensing Moorhouses Premier and 7 ever changing guests. In this guise it won the local CAMRA pub of the year 3 times in about 7 years. Sadly it has now been ruined. The walls are painted light blue and all the red seating has gone to be replaced with high wooden tables and dining room style leather covered chairs. All the mature clientele have gone and have been replaced by empty space at 8 p.m. on a Saturday. The music was pumping R & B style and much louder than previously. There are now only 3 handpumps and the only thing that hasnt changed is that Premier was still on the bar along with Pendle Witch and a Three Bs beer when we called in on Saturday. The bar is now only open Friday Sunday as well. The bar staff (one of whom has worked there for 30 years) are extremely unhappy with the changes and I dont blame them. Its now a characterless place that certainly wont repay the councils investment in the improvement. Its a real shame.

Oh dear. I have visited this venue for a quite a few years and I always thought it was THE best pub for beers in Fleetwood. Whilst the update is a bit "marmite" (love it or hate it) I think the beer choice has gone downhill massively. 3 handpulls now (Pheonix Navvy and a special cask beer to celebrate 250 of John Smiths when I was there at the festival) instead of 8 plus reduced hours and days open. Not sure why they did all of this but I agree with previous comments. Was sooo much better than this before.

Had a look in the bar while at the excellent beer festival, and it was a nice clean tidy bar with 3 ales on, and what a lovely view from the window.

Whoever is responsible for the decision to ruin this CAMRA Fylde award winner should be ashamed of themselves. It may have needed a 'tidy up', but not to be kicked dragging and screaming into the 1970's, with a cheap makeover. It was a period piece of true 1960's style which just wanted new upholstery, seats, lamps and ceiling tiles.

WAS a gem and my local for many years. Now following a makeover, new opening times (Friday, Sat n Sunday only) and a reduction from 8 beers to 2 or 3, and no cellarman this place is the pits. The beer is more often than not sour. A real shame

A shocking find. Fleetwood makes neighbouring Blackpool look like Monaco by comparison, and this pub is in a somewhat rundown public conference centre, so any right-minded person would expect it to be terrible.
For some unknown reason I let my stubborn, skeptical guard down one day, and checked it out. The place is excellent. An amazing selection of beers which (at least the ones I tried) were very well kept. The pub also looks like it was recently refurbished, so was a lot cleaner than expected. It also has large windows facing the sea, so you can enjoy the views, and forget you're in a derelict town.
The only other option for ale in Fleetwood is The Thomas Drummond (Wetherspoons) which often looks likes it's inhabited by the cast of Pirates of the Caribbean. So, if you find yourself trapped in this town (ie. you fell asleep on a Northbound tram, or washed ashore) you could do worse than stop in for a pint here.
topdog_andy: boldly going where other Londoners have not gone before.....for good reason.

Beautiful day, with friend and her 10 year old son. Quite happy to stay in the empty enclosed beer garden but they insist on plastic glasses outdoors. Real ale in plastic? No thanks.

A nice pub with a warm friendly atmosphere, and they serve a cracking pint of Pendle witch

A cracking bar. Home of the Fleetwood Beer Festival annually in February. Well worth a visit. Usually 5+ guest ales, Pendle Witch and Phoenix Navvy on permanent.
