This used to be a scratty pub with lots of character when I lived in Jericho in 2000. Cheap ale and a landlord who made the front page of The Oxford Mail when charging for tapwater. Now it's had a makeover. Busy for a Wednesday night with lots of people eating (pies looked good). Very slow service. Decent American IPA which made a change. Other ale was EPA with the other handpump being changed. The nostaligic me preferred it how it was but I'll be in a minority

Marstons guest ale ,EPA 3.35. Pub on 3 levels, main bar and a balcony area upstairs. Small downstairs bar area. Again a stripped pub with subdued lighting. Friendly staff on my visit.

Pies are excellent, and a nice vantage point above Walton Street on their outside terrace. Forget what the ales were but think there were one or two good ones. Slightly odd inside with the weird level changes, but adds to the quirky feel.

I was too full elsewhere to sample the pies but was quite impressed. The chief attraction beyond the pastry is a rather grand balcony that is decorated lavishly and gives the pub an appealing interior aspect. A gang of good natured lads were being qute noisy on our visit but this should be on any Jericho pub crawl itinerary.

Good pies made by Newitts of Thame but unfortunately served dry, without the rich delicious gravy described on the menu. Interesting pub with a balcony. Poor selection of real ales but some unusual lagers. Model aicraft hanging from ceiling.

The pies are great, the beer was good, the chips were nasty and the staff were indifferent. It was deserted when I went in there on a sunday lunchtime, when all the other pubs in Jericho were fairly busy, Maybe that should have been a hint.

If you are looking for a friendly welcoming pub then the Victoria is not the place to be. If however you like your bat staff rube and surly look no further. I have rarely met staff so unfriendly.

Fantastic. Nipped in after seeing a film at The Phoenix Picturehouse just down the road and treated ourselves to a pie and a pint. Pies are from Newitt's butchers in Thame which is one of the best in the country so we knew we were in for a quality bite. 5 a pop or 6.95 with chips. Loved the decor and ambience (despite the pub not being overly busy) and will definitely be going back...

A source of some disappointment - wasn't it once The Jericho Tavern?
Still, they offered Cameron's Strongarm as a guest on one occasion - under blanket. The horror.

Terrific pub in a characterful part of town (Jericho). Recently refurbished I understand, but have never been there before. Large main bar area with an open atrium to the second-floor ceiling, from which is suspended a large model of a Hawker Hart biplane. And I mean large - if it fell on you it would probably kill you! Above this is a lovingly- crafted version of the Sistine Chapel ceiling (honestly!). There are other rooms upstairs and a smaller bar at the front. Went there on a Sunday evening and rather than the usual dead atmosphere most pubs have on Sundays this was lively, with plenty of punters by closing time. The beer was from the Lake District brewery 'Jennings' - nice pint of Cumberland, but not sure what the connection is? Also Cider and German lager on draught

A bunch of us had a really nice time in here. Friendly staff, good music and good food.

I love this pub....the staff are very friendly, and play good music. The cider is tasty, and the garden is clean. Good decor inside too.
Recommended.

Not bad, beer a little limited but Marstons was good, nice fire too though strangely draughty. Good atmosphere though overall.

I went in this pub for the first time in ages the other day - the previous time it was pokey and unfriendly and I felt really uncomfortable. What a change! The staff are really friendly now, and the beer garden is lovely. Great service, great food.
