2 recent visits. Great ale, very friendly staff. Recommend as a proper pub.

Lovely back street pub, all wood beams & horse brasses. Warm welcome from friendly staff. Had lunch there a couple of times recently. Very good food, reasonably priced. Beers on offer were Ringwood Best, Sharp's Doombar, & Hop Back. Only sampled the Ringwood & Sharp's. Both were excellent. Definitely worth a visit.

Friendly on my recent visit, both Doom Bar And Hop Back GFB were good and the prawn curry (Thurs is curry night) was excellent. Recommended.

Very clean and pleasant ex-Gibbs Mew pub set back from the very centre of Salisbury. Small front room very traditional with low beams and horse brasses, small games room and yard and small restuarant/dining room at rear. Good home cooked but basic food and (yes) a welcoming landlady. Probably one of salisbury's best 'backstreet boozers'. 8/10.

Yes indeed it is.

and the welcome is welcoming?

Nice pub. Nice friendly people. This must be one of the few pubs in Salisbury with a car park. Nice pint. Nice atmosphere. Nothing special, but the beer's good, and the welcome is welcoming. I quite like it.

The Royal George was certainly one of the most ordinary pubs of our recent day trip. It does tick many of the boxes that make it a decent enough place but it all feels a bit like a pub by numbers creation and very contrived. The standard pub dcor and colour schemes are enhanced slightly by the copius brasses hanging on every beam and pillar and the 3D model of the pub catches the attention but the decor is equally let down by some pretty cheap looking pictures on the walls including 2 next to each other that are exactly the same (eagle eyed Mrs B spotted that one!). All the usual pub trimmings are present; Plasma TV, dart board, unobtrusive pool room at the rear and the pleasant beer garden that has clearly had a recent makeover. 3 handpumps operational on my visit Hop Back GFB, Doom Bar and Ringwood Best with a further pump unused. Something was hugely overpriced as a pint of GFB (hardly premium stuff at 3.5%) + a soda and lime racked up an astoundoing 4.30 on the till. There is certainly nothing untoward about the place (apart from the prices) to make one steer clear of it but when it comes to revising my chosen pubs for future any Salisbury pub crawls, I think the Royal George will slip into Division 2 below many that have that extra bit of appeal.

Good friendly local. Beer over priced (but in all fairness to the licensees it is owned by those rip off merchants Enterprise Inns). Lynn and Tony are very nice people (the leaseholders) and of course Pete behind the bar is a true gentleman. Worth a visit, good food, especially if Pete's cooking!!!

The bar ceiling in here is literally dripping with brass artifacts; spoons, jugs, horse brasses, you name it, they're dangling there. A half timbered interior with many drinking areas. The friendly and attentive landlord keeps his Ringwood, Sharps and Hopback beers extremely well and at 2.90 for Ringwood best pricing is about average for Salisbury. Pool table in one of the rooms at the back. The background music is a bit naff even for middle aged brass-things lovers.

While I had a decent enough pint of GFB, I found the pub somewhat lifeless. It's worth stopping here on a pub crawl, as it does better beer than its nearest rivals, but it's not somewhere I'd go out of my way to visit when there are better pubs not too far away.
