A Sunday afternoon visit for a beer with the wife.
8 ales on the taps, just like my last visit with my pint of Kirkstall Brewery Three Swords @ 4.5% being very drinkable.
Fairly empty except for a family with very annoying children that they didn’t seem to be bothered about keeping quiet or controlling, it’s a bar not a blinking playground!
The Sunday Roast’s looked good but we only stayed for the one pint. I like Bar T’at it’s very pleasant but this was my 2nd visit when it’s been quiet in here, I’ve no idea why as the ale is good and it’s in a good location.

This pub was refurbished not too long ago and to be honest it doesn't have a pub feel to it at all. I wouldn't say it has no atmosphere or amything but you do get the feeling that diners take priority. It does a fair few ales including Landlord and Ilkley Mary Jane. The beer quality has always been okay and has been a bit more pricey (pretty standard for Ilkley). I've never really rated this place, it's a good place for a drink or two but I wouldn't hang around and I wouldn't class it as a great ale pub.

Cracking pub and dining room that prides itself on local ale and good food.
The downstairs dining room was closed so all the punters in were here for the beer, and they certainly have a good selection on with 8 ales on the pumps, I went for the local Ilkley Brewery Ilkley Pale @ 4.2%. The hand pumps are in 2 batches of 4 across the split bar.
A large seating area is opposite the bar that has a mix of leather sofas and tables & chairs. There's open windows over the looking the side of the shopping area and to the back there's a courtyard terrace with benches etc.
According to a friend that lives in the town (who's never been in here) the place is a mecca for the local ale lover and the choice of ales and variety certainly bore this out.
Will return one day and spend more time here as I liked the atmosphere as well as the ale choice.

Modern pub - feels like sitting out on decking in parts. Ale was okay.

We also visited on a Sunday and the newspaper reading was very much in evidence. This is a modern bar with a good choice of real ales, ciders and continental beers. Timothy Taylor Landlord, Copper Dragon Golden Pippin, Black Sheep Best Bitter, Ilkley Mary Jane, Leeds Celebration Ale & Midnight Bell and both Roosters Yankee & YPA were all on. Broadoak Moonshine was the real cider and Gwynt y Ddraig Two Trees Perry were also available. Various brewery items can be seen around the walls. The good drinks range and the comfortable atmosphere made this our favourite pub in Ilkley and the best of 10 we tried in West Yorkshire.

A happening place on a Sunday afternoon - the beer patio was packed. The corridor room inside, away from the bar, was full of people reading their Sunday papers. It was a good job we had one too in order to be able to sit in there! Good choice of beers and each one was superb. Recommended.

Food menu had some unusual items like Canary Island stew and Stiffado. Good quality, locally produced and not expensive. Beer range superb. A "not to be missed" venue when in the area and such a credit as its a pub chain. Shows what can be done with the right attitude and management.

Another jewel in the crown of Market Town Taverns who have yet to disappoint.

Superb ales, friendly welcome, relaxed atmosphere, just what a pub should be, well worth a visit

crashingly superb selection of ale.worth a visit.

Super beer range. I had Rooster, Barngates, T Taylor and another, all in excellent condition. The beer range changes and draws heavily on small and local micros. Food is restaurant quality at pub prices. Gets V busy of an evening but worth staking out a table.Best place to drink in Ilkley without doubt.

This is a wonderful pub. Everything you could want really.

Brilliant pub! 20oz T bone steak and a pint of Black Sheep. Excellent service, lovely bar - can't really fault it.
|
Faultless. I called in on a weekday evening, had a lovely pie and chips with fresh veg on the table within about ten minutes of ordering (7.50 for a huge portion of really good quality food). An immaculate and wide range of real ales... numerous interesting belgian beers and all sorts of other stuff. Most of the pints were only just over 2. I wish I was local to this place.

This is a superb "real ale" outlet, part of the Market Town Taverns group. All local micro breweries supported, excellant food and soon to be totally no smoking.
