The Waggon & Horses was to be my third stop in Devizes. It's a building situated in a residential area not far from the town centre. It was a Wadworth's pub. But it's currently closed. Research online suggests it closed in spring this year.

Old School pub and good thing for it, friendly bar staff. Obviously it suffers from the Devizes curse of only selling Wadworths beer (I think I am being hard on Devizes here, I am sure that any town with a brewery will stick loyally to it and so they should!) I just think a little bit of choice wouldnt go a miss sometimes. Anyway, back to the pub, 7/10

This particular premises is very good at selling me the dark Mild from the local Wadworth brewery. It's an enigmatic brew - at least it is as far as I'm concerned - no sooner have I got home than I find myself yearing to return for more. This might one day prove to be my downfall ! I should be so lucky . . . lucky, lucky, lucky.
'Sacred blue', as they say in this part of the world. Hand me down my walking shoes, I'm returning to the pub.

Proper local pub. Good beer and good company. The regulars are easy to identify (which is only as it should be) and are a friendly bunch. You could do a lot worse than visit this place.

Enjoyed the Pint Size Mild and Henry's IPA here. Friendly pub with a bar serving 2 drinking areas.
