The De Spencer Arms is situated a long way uphill from High Wycombe and down a very rutted lane. With just a single room and many customers, it was fairly crowded on my Monday evening visit. A group who had been shooting locally had clearly been downing a fair few. Other customers seemed a little more friendly. Whilst it's a Fuller's pub, the ale range was slightly more diverse than usual with a selection of London Pride, HSB, Partridge & Tribute. Lovely location. Shame about some of the clientele.

Nice pub and friendly staff.
Wild river not the best, Seafarer made up for it.

Although this pub is tucked away it was surprisngly busy for a damp Friday lunchtime. Beer well kept. Had a pint of Fullers - Jack Frost. Landlady made us feel very welcome but food service a little slow and food in my case Chilli was average.

Nice cosy little pub which really is absurdly difficult to find. Bar divides itself up into several separate areas which helps the atmosphere no end. Perhaps I just have a friendly face but in the few times I've been there, I've never found it in the least cliquey or unfriendly. Beers are mostly drawn from the old Gale's range which I can't say impress me that much - I prefer Fuller's own beers. The couple of times I have eaten there, the food has been fine.

Recently visited this pub on a walk, nice fullers pub in a good location and had a nice pint of Seafarers. Only downsides abit small inside no room to move, i am very slim and i couldnt get in or out of my seat. All tables were reserved for diners so you have to book a table in advance if you want to eat. Nowhere to sit inside if you just want a drink and its busy.

This pub has all the potential to be a great pub, petty location and interesting old building. However it is badly let down by poor management. The landlord is bumptious and there was a very sour faced women serving behind the bar which put a dampener on proceedings. The pub is dirty and needs a thorough deep clean. The beer was a disappointing range of Fullers ales namely London Pride and Gales HSB and Seafarer. The HSB was poorly kept and a very short measure was pulled and not topped up.I dont know why this is a Good Beer Guide entry ,nor why there is a cask mark accreditation. Also the rioja was sour and old but was at least replaced on complaint. The food took an hour to arrive but was very good, the problem is not enough people in the kitchen preparing the meals.Regulars do get served before stangers waiting patiently at the bar.The worst problem is letting small children have free reign anywhere around the pub interior while their chavvy parents spend hours drinking. This is meant to be a pub not a creche, and does lead to the feel of this place being an estate pub. It's difficult to find and not worth the bother.

'The Slaughtered Lamb' indeed! I totally agree. "Theres nowt for you here" - too right. There was nothing for me at this pub. Not even a pint! I walked out after waiting ages to be served - whilst others walked in and their pint was on the bar before they got there! The local football and cricket club members seem to hold court here as if they own the place. They get preference at the bar even if you have been there ages waving your cash at the barstaff. I expected this to be a gem due to its location, but it has the air and atmosphere of a 'wot you looking at' estate pub - best avoided.

I had a lovely visit and obviously not the same experience and the last person to comment. The food is fantastic and very very well priced, I found the staff nice to chat to and the landlord and landlady were both great, there were quite a few locals in there and everyone smiled and chatted, I wish I lived closer as their sunday lunches are great - got to pre-book as they are normally full over the weekend. I have visited loads of different pubs around Buckinghamshire and although this one is small it really is worth a visit!

It's like the Slaughtered Lamb in American Werewolf in London. If you're not a local, your visit will be met with suspicion.
It's a local pub for local people.
