What a difference a year makes. The pub is a "Surf and Turf" pub - one down from a Hungry Horse. Food is cheap and OK, as long as you like burger and chips, fish and chips, steak and chips...... Beer is also much cheaper than any where else in the Abingdon area, but therein lies the problem. It's a huge pub and some days it is just full of lads - of various ages - seeing just how much they can drink and how loudly they can swear at their mates in the pub garden before coming in to see the football scores on one of the countless TV's. Not sure what this place is now aiming at, it has a children's play area and children's menu but I wouldn't want to take my child there. Sat outside one Saturday afternoon and two really drunk people (one in his 60's, one in his 20's) with a young child - just sat down at our table smoking and swearing at each other - delightful! Felt we couldn't say anything for fear of getting loads of abuse, so finished our drinks and went over to the Spread Eagle - much more civilized.

This place has really changed, not that it was hard to! All the place needed was that awful woman Gabby to be removed!

The place has got its heart and soul back, plus they got a fit bloke there called Steve, hes worth a visit even if you have a coke! lol

This pub has just been taken over by a couple from Yorkshire who seem really pleasant and really want this pub to do well. It is a big pub and has a large restaurant area, but is still relaxing to sit and have a drink. Hopefully once people will realise the change in management it will become popular again. We went in on a Wednesday night and there were only approx a dozen people - it used to be packed!

Dreadful place!!! Looks lovely from the outside and many years ago it was a top pub. The problem is the mangeress. She clearly does not enjoy her job unless gets a kick out of having a shocking attitude problem. Avoid at all costs. Take a short walk to the Spread Eagle around the corner. At least the staff there generally smile at you!!!

Had ordered a pint of ale with a small dash of lemonade. When I tasted it it was far too sweet, so I went to the bar and asked for a top up of ale. When the barman was going to do so, the landlady stopped him and told me that it would cost me 60 pence for that dash. I couldn't believe what I heard. She wouldn't give in, so my mate gave me a splash of ale from his pint. I will not go back before the owner has changed. Very very bad attitude!

Took a family of six, for a meal here, and never again. They sat us next to a large mirror, with the prices written on, it seems that the menu had a different set of prices, when questioned i was told that it was because the sign writer was not due till Monday, the difference was only 5.40 BUT the attitude of the landlady was so bad I refused to pay the extra, as is my legal right. I have given this pub a 3 as the food was plentiful and beers OK. Green King brewery, please put a better landlord in there if you want us to go back.

has anyone spoke to the landlady she is the most extravagantly ignorant bitch, if it wasn't for her and her husband the boundary house might actually still be a good pub.

The food was awful.

Not a bad pub. Best to go if you want something to eat so you can sit in the restaurant. Bar is full of foul mouthed yoofs.

Big garden, but unfortunately right on the main road and all the chavvy kids think they're it if they can rev their engines the loudest. Welcome to Abingdon!

An OK pub, the cider is decent, but not stunning. A bit too chavvy in the evening for my liking, but you get to expect that in Chavingdon.

The food is average quality, but you get huge amounts of it for your money. I've been reliably informed the Sunday carvery is very good.

Best bet is to go in the summer and sit in the lovely garden....just try and ignore the traffic!

Nice pub, bring back Big dave's quiz night, that American bloke is useless, can't understand what he is saying because of his accent
