Happened upon the pub at lunchtime on Sat, so popped in. Very welcoming landlord, excellent ale and a superb ham, egg and chips at a very reasonable price! The wife's jacket potato with cheese and beans was also very good!

Starting to slide a bit. Now only 3 real ales regularly - where there used to be 4.
They also advertise freshly prepared and home cooked food, but conveniently ignore the frozen stuff, like the chips and onion rings.
On maintenance. When light bulbs fail - they never seem to be replaced. They advertised a new menu and management a few months ago - which might explain the drop in standards.

Good selection of Real Ales, wines and superb food. Nice rustic atmosphere with a beer garden and large car park. Drinks a little bit pricey, but good quality.
Great staff, very attentive and a wonderful, warm and professional manageress.
Try their functions when they're on ... usually in a large marquee in the garden, they are very well run

Now owned by the same man who runs the Steam Railway in Old Town, 6X and Doombar are regulars plus 2 guests, lets hope this is a success and the pub goes from strength to strength.

Great to see this place open again. Not too much has changed thankfully except that the room to the left of the bar has been opened up, seemingly as an eating area. The beer selection has increased from 2 very well kept ales to 4. Had a good pint of Brains' Reverend James.

Was closed for a few months, but now refurbished & reopened. 4 ales on handpump & a reasonable menu. Looks like the new licensees are making a decent effort - give them your support!

Theres a better pub down the road by the river but i forgot the name.
|
Now completely boarded up

This pub, sadly, is currently closed, as of the end of 2008. It looks to have changed hands, so it may be closed for renovation, but could equally end up as a house/flats etc. Fingers crossed it re-opens with a new lease of life.

Although the food has received good reviews before I beg to differ. Visited earlier this week for lunch and sent the food back.

Without doubt, this has to be one of, if not the best pub in North Wiltshire in terms of surroundings, atmosphere, beer and food. Both the food menu and the beers on tap always provide some nice surprises. Have recently sampled beers there from RCH and the Hidden Brewery. The beers are so well kept that the Hidden beer tasted better than it does at one of Hidden's own pubs. Also some of the best food that I have dined out on in a very long time, all reasonably priced and service is excellent. If the weather is good, the large beer garden is a real treat with an expansive grassy area and a patio close to the rear of the pub.

Visited here several times over the past six months since discovering it last summer. The pub is a relatively easy cycle along quiet (ish) lanes from Swindon,
On arrival, a large beer garden overlooking fields awaits at the back of the pub, ideal for propping up your bike, and sinking down a pint. Typically 2-3 real ales on, sourced from local breweries, including Cottage and West Berkshire. All kept well.
Quite a busy pub, with very supportive locals. We've sampled several meals there, and can only echo the previous comments with the food - the Nachos are superb!
Snug and cosy in the winter, although space (especially if you intend to dine) is at a bit of a premium.

Can confirm other comments. Food is excellent and we will need to visit again to sample further delights!!

Some nice beer, including Bass. The food included some attractive options - paticularly the baguettes and salads for vegetarians. The garden is a good size and attractive although, as usual, its overlooking the car park and a thick hedge or fence might help make it feel more rural(seemed to back onto fields). Bit of a smell noticeable when we went in and slight delay with the baguettes, but the food was freshly prepared and tasty.

Great pub with warm friendly village atmosphere. Very inventive menu with traditional and more modern cuisine.

The Sun Inn, is a lovely village pub with great garden for those rare sunny days... Traditional as well as unusual bistro style cuisine. Must try the sweet chilli sizzle platters on offer.3 real ales and a traditional cider plus smoothies & flavoured vodkas. Highly recommended.

good garden and yokel-cider, small but has a very disturbingly 'local' feel
