Had a fantastic experience at the old house yesterday and even better news is the thatch is being renewed in early june at last!!!!! still even with a rotten roof the food and beer there is very good.

Yet more one time posters. Coincidence that nobody posts for a whole year then two 'separate' 'customers' in the space of a minute. Fools nobody.

RSD = Richard David himself. RSD is car number plate. Think this review is unfair to people looking for a good family orientated pub x

Nice family orientated pub with good food and good prices cant fault it for a family gathering service was outstanding. Roof is in need of retoration but other than that its all positive from me and my family. we will go back.

Lovely setting with nice beer garden. Food portions much too large for my liking - waste and off putting. Sure the curry I had was from a tin. Have been going there for years and menu is the same, saying that so is the deco, desperate for updating. Nice to see lately that there is proper hand washing facilities in the ladies, still no locks on toilet doors!!! Thatched roof is falling apart and appears to be rotting and in desperate need of renewal.
Recent visit was the final one. Landlords father (who was not so long ago the landlord) in my opinion very rude and aggressive!!! Watching how much regulars spend and if you dont spend all you earn, you're outers!

We received SHOCKING treatment. We have been CUSTOMERS FOR 9 YEARS. On a busy Sunday, we watched same-sized parties who arrived after us being seated before us. These same people were served the exact same meal we ordered (roast Lamb), but before us. We waited. We asked why those arriving after us received their meals first. Richard, the owners reply was, Does it bother you? Well it doesnt bother me. We stayed because our son was hungry. His meal arrived. Finally ours arrived and the meat was grisly and fatty. We asked for new meat, or another type of meat. Richard came to the table and REMOVED OUR FOOD FROM THE TABLE! Richard didnt have the nerve to remove our sons meal, so we stayed for him to finish it, though Richard had taken most of the veg away. We paid for what we had consumed. We were APPALLED. We have told our family and friends NEVER TO GO TO THE OLD HOUSE.

Historic pub. Lively and popular. Unimaginative real ale choice on muy last visit in 2006. Roof appears to need re-thatching [rotting] and bar could do with some re-investment. Smokey, but this will change soon!

A really nice & very old pub. Decent pint. But as usual in the area well behind the times in serving food. Restaurant closes between 2 & 5. They don't take tourists into account.
