Had a couple of nice pints a week ago on a Sunday afternoon. Nice pub with good service. Must be doing something right given the number of people in. Good tosee a busy pub.

Tarted up again, and another step away from being a local public house. Beer acceptable but no longer a place to dawdle away an hour or two with good conversation or a good book. Too Islington, too unfriendly.

It's been taken over again (goodbye *om). Sofas have gone to be replaced by less comfortable furniture. Range of beer fits style of pub. On a summers day the garden is lovely. The new owner is well known in area and bound to be more popular than previous one. Food still pricey but it is good.

An old mate used to work here in about 1990, you might know him, he looks like a cross between Andrew Marr / Prince Edward / Plug from the Beano and a boozed up old soak. Anyway, sounds like this pub has gone as far downhill these days as he has.

visited last week, had an unbelieveable experience, gentleman walks in with his lady, orders a pint of harveys, glass of merlot, and a bag of cheese and onion. �10.10p. unbelieveably expensive. AVOID!!!

Went back yesterday for the first time since my last review and it's still the same. It's in the wrong place and quite frankly taints the places it surrounds, attracts the worst sort of person, and belongs in Brighton about 5 years ago.

good choice of ale, but tastes dreadfull.
dont think they sell enough ale to justify 3 pumps

A shadow of its former self. A once great village local ruined in the same way as he ruined the Bull in Ditchling, and no doubt will do the same to the White Horse in Ditchling. Beer actuallty well kept - and a good choice - Harveys Best, Landlord and Summer Lightning. Food expensive and child-sized portions. 'Hand cooked chips' soggy - seemed they had been cooked hours ago and kept warm.

They've taken the Leffe off. Only thing that was worth going in for. Decor is nice but looks like a Brighton trendy pub. Good atmosphere most nights, if you have to go go early Friday night.

Well I don't know what you lot are moaning about, this is a great pub! We went in today and had a bite to eat with our 2 year old boy and really liked it. A nice village location, a decent pint and lovely food. It's run by the same guy as the Bull in Ditchling which is another lovely pub. I have no idea what it was like before here, but I think the New Inn mixes the character of an old pub with a contemporary feel and they've got it spot on. If you still want a locals pub go to the Poachers down the road, but if you want some decent food with friends & family in an old pub, but with a clean, modern and welcoming environment then come here.

The place has been ruined, and it's disgusting! They've ripped out everything which once showed it wasa village pub - can you beleive the shields from the local tug of war comps ended up in a Brightonflea market because the new owners don't care one bit about any sense of community spirit. To want to be here now I think you have to be a yuppy who wants to pay �5 for a glass of wine whilst taking advantage of the wi-fi. At least it has proven that the Poacher and the White horse are now the real village pubs

what have they done to this pub?
It used to be well used by locals, now its been lost to visitors who want a nice meal in a quaint village. very very sad. very very fake.

gone downhill massively. summer lightning disgusting. manager cant keep beer. dont go there.

Very disappointed with the beer quality - it looked promising with Summer Lightning & Harveys on, but the Summer Lightning was hazy and the Harveys was clear but tasteless.

for the second time in a year , the pub has been gutted out and tarted up. very trendy,and take a torch because its bloody dark in there!!.on the plus side , timothy taylors landlord and adnams broadside. no longer a locals pub, which is a shame.

a very entertaining pub,didnt used to be too fussy about i.d but liable to ask now.mostly packed and no where to sit.not much in the way of fit single young men but if you prfer the father figure type then you will luv it.the bar people are nice but you are likely to be removed and barred if you steal; a)the bar skittles or b)a pensioners flat cap.you have been warned..

I used to work in this pub many many years ago. Has seen a few changes in Landlords in recent years. Saloon bar is for those who want to get seriously caned and the back bar for a slower more concentrated form of drinking. Within stumbling distance of a semi decent curry house. Sort of pub you want to spend a lazy Autumn afternoon in.

Old building, lovely village, not a home for politically correct or brainless. The New Inn is a jewel in a sea of generally poor manners, indifferent fare and overpriced warm beer. Clean pipes = good ale, now served to you by former Test cricketer the one and (thankfully) only Tony Pigott. Brilliant lunchtime sandwiches made by SuperChef Pete (never got a proper job). The Gorgeous Ping's Chinese worth a visit when the kitchen is repaired. Pity about the staff, but you could never get them, could you? Lovely people. They put up with me.

Great old place. Public bar gets rowdy - all spit and saw dust. Dark Saloon bar round the back, low ceilinged, blazing fire. Excellent stuff. And a decent Chinese restaurant stuck on the back. And the garden is massive and, well, great. And back in the day, you could get a drink whatever your age. I'm sure it's not like that now, though. My most favouritest pub in the whole wide world.
