Quirky elongated bar in faux Victorian style. Rather boisterous at end of evening when we called in. My Tetley's was OK but the rest of the party was less enthusiastic about their choices. Pleasant enough, but probably not a place to visit again.

Nice looking pub in historic area with a plush interior & the usual framed prints. Close to Cathedral but I had problems finding it after doing the Kelham Island area pubs & not being 'in touch with reality' somewhat. Still noted there were 4 ales on of which I tried the Bradfield Farmers Blonde.

A unique "flat iron" shaped building a short walk away from the city centre I was really looking forward to seeing the interior & sampling a beer or 2. Unfortunately & unusually this pub is closed Saturdays & Sundays.

welcoming pub, good Tetleys. Wooden decor with Art deco lamp shades. Would go again

Popped in and quaffed a very well kept pint of Thornbridge "Wild Swan", Was so good i stayed for another... the barmaid was very welcoming and the atmosphere was warm friendly and relaxed, a well deserved Good Beer Guide entry without a doubt, 8/10

This wedge-shaped pub looks lovely from the outside and you are able to sit in the pretty windowed apex which is rather good on a sunny day. Three ales were available (Tim Taylor Landlord, Stones and Tetley Bitter). My Stones (2.40) was fairly poor, there was a hint of tinny baked beans in the taste; my TT Landlord was a lot better (though it would have struggled to be much worse). Piped music was of the trying to funky variety, presumably in an attempt to appeal to the half-a-dozen suited workers from the HSBC offices opposite indulging in an after-work beer. The interior has a very plush-80s refit feel, even down to some big leafy pot plants which I remember being so de-rigueur in my childhood - perhaps this place might get listed as an unspoilt interior in 20 years time.

On the one hand, I really rather liked the character of the pub and would like to go again; but on the other I would struggle to recommend it for the beer above the many great institutions within a 15 minute walk. Lets say its worth popping in if you have time or happen to be nearby.

Traditional wedge-shaped corner pub on a street intersection close to what would seem to be the business district of the city.

Its a single bar pub with a characterful traditional cosy carpeted lower level and, up several steps, a refurbished upper level, but with still a pleasant feel to it.

There's a large HSBC office close by, but "suits" by no means dominated the pub during my recent early evening Friday visit.

Beers on included TT Landlord, Tetleys and Castle Rock Harvest Ale.

I really liked this one - yes, I've made a mental note to come here again

Very nice pub selling excellent real ale. Very quiet though, even on Saturday evenings - not sure why, as it's got a lot of character and, as I say, the beer is excellent.

Sneaked in here for a sly one when walking down to The Kelham Island Tavern to meet friends. Bearing in mind this was at about 7pm, I was very surprised when I walked in and the pub was literally empty. The bar-maid was in the cellar as well. I awkwardly plumped for the Landlord which was enjoyable. Took some money out of the fruit machine, quickly finished off my pint and made an exit. Shame really because its a reasonable pub.

Reasonable pub on a sharp street corner, sitting right in the corner window on a sunny day was a pleasant experience. Range of 3 hand pulled beers, Adnams, Timothy Taylor landlord and Tetley, not exactly cheap (2.40 a pint) but served in good condition - possilby the best pint of Adnams's I've had. The food range was not vegetarian friendly, but the portions for a chip butty were not at all bad for a lunch and overall the pub ranks up there with many of the other more traditional pubs just off the bars of West Street.

6/10
