Not been here for a few years but happened to be passing when one of my children declared that they needed the toilet. Popped in and asked if it was alright to bring the children in and we all received a very warm welcome. Greene King pub but had some true guest ales, and mine was very well kept. Really welcoming stuff and locals to accompany the good beer and lovely real fire. Well worth a visit for anyone in the area!

Wow! Dropped from the 2017 Good Beer guide! How was that, then?
The guys that run this have been (in one pub or another) in the GBG for 22 consecutive years. Yet the Angel remains in? Nuff sed.

If you love old pub games this is the place.Bar billiards, table skittles, shoveha'penny, you name it.Long may they survive.Good pint of GK IPA too.

This pub changed hands two or three years ago and now always has at least a couple of guest beers to go with the GK and the best Sunday lunches in town.

A bit on the quiet side for a Saturday afternoon, as the cats & dogs ( which were lovely - well the dogs were !) out numbered the punters !
A great open fire to warm your soul - or more especially the bum of the resident pub dog, who's sense of feeling in this area must have long deserted him ! The only downside was the smoke blowing down the flue into the bar, giving it & everyone present, the smell of a steam engine ( for those who may remember them !)
Was not disapointed to have chosen to eat here, however, as the food was truely superb and good value for money - hats off to the chef. Our group had the Cod, Scampi & Goulash & the pub animals hoping for any scraps were sorely disapointed.
The range of ales was good, but not paticularly exciting ; The Hook Norton 'Old Hooky' was excellent. The St.Edmunds was not. Also available was GK IPA & Old Speckled Hen, which we didn't sample as we has more pubs to visit ....................

Couple who run this are lovely - very welcoming and the beer was top. Live music (Acoustic guitar) was on when we went.

Lovely historical pub with low beamed ceilings and various little drinking areas. Visited on a weekend where they had a Cheese and Beer Festival. 120 odd cheeses available from the cheese counter and there looked t be a barbecue out in the beer garden. Even had some live folk music. Unfortunately this is a Greede King pub so the beer was pretty much restricted to their own beers or those beers that they've acquired from other breweries but haven't had the chance to kill off yet. Nine GK beers plus Everard's Tiger, Bateman's XXXB, Aspall's Cyder and Weston's Stowford Press Cider. So nothing inspiring from a beer festival but the beer I had (the non-GK stuff) was is fine condition served straight from the barrel in the snug. I very much doubt that GK would allow any true guest beers here on a normal night though. So to summarise: good pub shame it's GK.

This pub has been under new management for about a year now, the food is awesome, cod and chips was more like shark and chips! Beer was good, well looked after, as was the wine. Nice beer garden.
If you're looking for good food for reasonable prices look no further! Its certainly a good find and well recommended.

Great Pub built in 14th or 15th Cent when Men were Men and Queens lost their heads. It is frequented by middleagers like me. I use this Inn allot. Good Beer & Food. Friendly LL, LDy & Staff. Bad neighbours they are constantly complaining about the noise! Why did they buy a house next to a pub!!! God help us all, if this type manages to close down pubs like this. The current licencees are now leaving. Good luck and I hope your successors are half as good as you have been.

Rather nice this pub. Staff friendly. Can't say there's a massive selection of beers but the IPA I had went down well. Have eaten a steak'n'ale pie here on two occasions, very, very tasty indeed. They do have themed nights but I haven't been to one (wouldn't want to spoil it :)). Don't miss the old steelyard machinery on the side of the building, it's quite impressive.

Good for old couples who are visiting the town. They can sit down and order a dull bar meal and not talk to each other for the duration. It really has no atmosphere at all, but tries to make up for it with insipid music nights and (gulp) themed evenings. Avoid.

Good pub for beer, rubbish food.

Great building. Could be a great pub, but loses points with me for: 1) they don't seem to want people to sit down unless they're eating, 2) they have their background music too loud and 3) only have Greene King beers when they could have a guest.

This is a nice friendly traditional bub, right in the centre of Woodbridge. The current owners are very friendly and welcoming, we had great beer and lovely fish and chips last time. I'm not a regular - visit a few times a year, but it's always good. Looses 2 points for being a bit smokey sometimes.
